The first generation Challengers were built from 1970 through 1974
and were intended to be the most potent pony car on the street.
Even though it was only offered in a hard top or convertible it was
however offered in a staggering number of trim and option levels,
it was also offered with pretty much every Chrysler engine that was
available at that time with some of the wildest color schemes to
date. The performance model was the Challenger R/T with a 383 Cubic
Inch V8 rated at 335 HP all the way up to the 440 Cubic Inch with a
6-pack carb set up with around 400 HP or 426 Hemi rated at 425HP.
This particular fantastic driver quality example started life with
what is believed to be a 383 but when the frame off restoration was
completed in 2014 a 440 Cubic Inch engine was sourced and re-built
for this car. The underside of this beauty is fantastic, the
interior is excellent as are all the gauges in working order. This
Plum Crazy example starts and sounds incredible. Goes down the road
as it should and gets plenty of attention. The chrome and bright
work is in good condition with the paint work being a good driver
quality. There are $20,000 in parts receipts alone and in the last
three months a new battery, voltage regulator, power steering pump,
new steering gear, trans pan and seal, plug wires and tune up, new
ignition, gas tank re-sealed, new wiring and rear bumper chromes.
The tires and brakes are good with front discs and rear drums. We
all know what a real 440 car brings so don't miss your opportunity
at this price.
