For Sale: 1967 Austin-Healey Sprite in Santa Rosa, California

Vehicle Description

Hi there fellow English car lovers! I'm offering for sale my 1967 Austin Healey Sprite. It pains me to sell our Daisy Mae, but the family is growing and unfortunately, she is not. I purchased this car in 2007 in Rocklin, CA where it was owned by an enthusiast and had the engine overhauled a few years prior. See below for a list of updates/upgrades made to the car:

1.) Original 4 speed rib-case transmission removed and replaced with Datsun 210 all synchro 5-speed. I used the Rivergate adapter kit and the transmission was shipped from SoCal. The transmission runs great and I put some redline fluid in it but the bearings could use to be replaced.
2.) Dynamo removed and replaced with Mazda RX-7 alternator. The voltage regulator was rewired for the alternator and the car has been changed over to negative ground. You now do not need to worry about no lights with the engine at low RPM.
3.) A Weber downdraft carb replaces the 2 original SU carbs
4.) Header and new exhaust installed
5.) Original wheels replaced with minilite replica wheels with Pirelli tires, a few years old now but in good condition.
6.) The tach has been rebuilt professionally by Nisonger (Smiths authorized rebuilder in NY state) and now has modern electronics inside
7.) Speedo was replaced but mileage stayed the same
8.) The whole front end bushing system was replaced and car aligned about 1.5 years ago by Mikes Import Engines in Santa Rosa. Car sticks to the road and is a blast to drive!
9.) The oil pressure/temperature gage was rebuilt by Nisonger but the temperature gage needs to be rebuilt again as an adapter needs to be added to the assembly due to a post in the way in the head. This is a known issue by Nisonger but unknown by me when the new gage was installed...oops.
10.) Additional aux fan installed on radiator to help keep things cool
11.) An oiler cooler was installed by the previous owner
12.) Interior was replaced by the previous owner, about 15-20 years ago.

As a fellow classic car lover, I appreciate an honest report on what could use some improvements, so here are my thoughts:

1.) The car has a little oil leak (see underside picture). I believe the issue is I did not put enough sealant at the bottom of the adapter plate when the transmission was replaced. Also, this car is English, so a little oil leak can be expected. I have been using heavier weight hot rod oil, so that helps.
2.) The car was repainted Corvette yellow about 15 years ago and looks good from 10 feet, but is showing its wear and has a few dents and dings.
3.) The horn does not work. It may be a simple wiring issue or the horn itself may need to be replaced.
4.) The passenger door does not fully align, see side view picture.
5.) The previous owner did a lot of welding on the underside on the drivers side and it was not really well done. Has not been a problem but there was likely some previous rust damage to the floor boards.
6.) The car runs great with the Datsun 5-speed but the bearings should be replaced if the car is going to be driven a lot.

I will also offer all of the original parts I have that have been removed if the new owner wants to restore it to original. See pictures for these parts and the list below:

1.) Original 4-speed transmission
2.) Original transmission adapter plate (hard to find these days)
3.) Original dynamo
4.) Original convertible top. Frame is good condition but the cover should be replaced ($200 or so from Moss or Victoria British)
5.) The previous owner had a sporty suspension on the car with a front sway bar. It was removed when I purchased the car and I never installed it but it is your with the purchase of the car.
6.) I believe I also have the original SU carbs. No pictures as I haven't located the box yet...

Check out the pictures and let me know if you want to see the car. I'm not parting anything out so the car comes with ALL of the parts and the parts with the car. Acceptable payment is cash or bank/cashier's check WITH verification. NO personal checks or credit card payments will be accepted and NO, I do not need help selling my car. No trades!

Thanks for looking!
