We're excited to present this modern muscle car which has the same
idea as the muscle cars of decades ago, with one big difference; a
lack of a large displacement V8. Still an extremely fun, (and more
importantly) fast car that's been on the rise in the collector car
market. Simple styling, blacked out trim and/or grille, simple
wheels, hidden gauges, cleverly placed badging, and bucket seats
follow the musclecar DNA. Many folks who bought these cars new, or
relatively new a few decades ago are now selling them, giving a
younger generation of car enthusiasts the opportunity to add one to
their collections. We've had a few very nice Grand Nationals in our
showroom in the past few years, and this is another great example
of the cool, factory street sleeper Grand National. Just as all the
other '87 Grand Nationals, this one is finished in gloss black
paint over a grey cloth interior. The familiar Grand National logo
can be spotted on the front fenders, rear decklid, embroidered on
the seats, on the wheel hubcaps, and on the under-hood sound
deadener. All those logos aren't exactly small or well hidden, but
the Grand Nationals surprised a whole lot of cars in factory trim
at traffic lights, and drag strips. Polished alloy wheels that have
very simple styling, black grille, and a rear spoiler are the other
possible giveaways of the Grand National. The somewhat stripped
down, stealthy styling that featured small changes over the base
Regal is similar to the Muscle cars of the '60's and '70's except
for one thing. The lack of a big displacement engine. The Grand
National doesn't follow the adage There's no replacement for
displacement since GM replaced displacement with a Turbocharger.
This made for a lighter powerplant, and that fun kick you feel when
the turbo hits boost. Well cared for, and only displaying 7k
original miles, this Grand National is in beautiful condition and
worthy of any collector's attention. Even sweeter is that the car
is a one owner car, with original documentation that includes the
window sticker. The G-Body styling is covered in black paint which
shows very well, including nice depth. Trim, bumpers, lights, show
well, and body panel alignment is dialed right in. The interior is
just what you'd expect - squared off dashboard, plush seats, tall
shifter in the center console, and a three-spoke steering wheel.
The gauge cluster features a cleverly integrated tachometer, and
boost gauge at the bottom right. Other interior highlights are
power windows, power locks, Delco AM/FM/Cassette radio, and power
driver's seat. Under the hood the Turbocharger is prominently
displayed right at the front passenger's side of the engine bay - a
chunky heat shield covering the actual unit from view. Air inlet
and intercooler piping is visible right at the front of the engine
bay as well. The engine bay is tidy from a cleanliness standpoint,
although all the factory wiring and sensors detract from a
completely neat and tidy look. As the collector market evolves, the
Grand Nationals are staying in the hot category, and thanks to the
folks who have, and are now selling beautiful examples like this
car, more chances are coming up for the next generation of
collectors to own one. This car is an exceptional and nicely
documented example. Be sure to check out all the photos and video
