Vehicle Description
This is a stunningly presenting, fully restored and excellent
condition Silver Shadow Long Wheel Base sedan. Finished in the very
regal combination of black over burgundy with rich ochre-tan
leather hides contrasted with black piping and matching carpets. It
has a craftsman hand-painted single fine line to the waistlines
finished in gold. The colour combination is quintessentially
"Rolls-Royce" and hall-marks the tradition of those housed in the
Royal Mews for Buckingham Palace. A truly splendid presenting
example showing only some 23,400 miles. Rolls-Royce Long Wheel Base
("LWB") sedans represent only 15% of all Silver Shadows made. They
are 4" longer in the rear seat compartment offering considerably
greater leg room for rear seat passengers. The LWBs are easily
identified by the smaller rear "opera" window compared to the
full-size rear glass on standard sedans and the standard fitment
Everflex top. This example has been in the hands of the right
owners all its life having been care-taken in the last 15 years by
a small but conscientious car collector and enthusiast who restored
it to his personal taste and desires, whilst ensuring everything
operated correctly and to factory specifications. All work was done
very much on a "no expense spared" basis. The car has been
minimally used and simply admired amongst an impressive collection
of a range of cars. Before the most recent owner having the
opportunity meeting us, he had another highly regarded facility
attend to a bare metal respray and the fitment of a rather unique
heavy-grain vinyl top. The repaint was a superb job and included
all new exterior rubbers and seals. $35,000 was spent on the
exterior restoration and the high quality of the work is
indisputable. He then attended to the interior completely redoing
all leather finishes in Connolly-like top quality hides. This
includes seats, door panels, arm-rests, console and minor A, B and
C pillar interior trim and sail panels. The final finish is
overwhelmingly gorgeous with every single detail done in accordance
with factory presentation. The cost was over $25,000. All the wood
was refinished. This alone is spectacular with the car featuring
the light African burl walnut which is as rich in depth and gloss
as the car's exterior whilst carrying the ochre tones of the new
leather. Added features included a centre console storage cocktail
unit. New Wilton wool carpets with correct leather binding were
tailored and new lambswool moutons rugs adorn them. A factory
correct pure wool headliner fitted. In total, some $40,000 spent on
the interior alone. The finish is stunning. The feel of the leather
is simply sumptuous and the "cologne" it releases; invitingly
luscious. A unique 3-spoke leather wrapped steering wheel was
procured and the car integrated with a current technology stereo
system. When the owner introduced the car to us some 6 years ago,
our task was to make sure; "the car drives like new" and "to look
every part of a new car". Park-Ward went through every single
mechanical aspect to include engine, all hydraulics, suspension,
exhaust, steering and tyres. Way too much to list here but we have
all the records totaling some $25,000. Every operational feature
was reviewed and serviced as required; windows, door locks, seats,
AC, heater, right down to the most insignificant light bulb in the
dash. The clock keeps perfect time and provides just the right
amount "tick-tock"! I recall personally driving the car on many
road tests and constantly tweaking and making minor improvements to
get her "just right". And that she is. Upon completion, we were
able to deliver back to the owner a Silver Shadow LWB which, in our
expert opinion, represents one of the nicest driving examples
available and represents a matched experience of this model when
brand new. And if all this was not enough, we finished off the car
by detailing the underside to ensure all presented like it did from
new (new underbody schultz an
