For Sale: 1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

Only 384 made! Pontiac Historical Society documented. This was born a real Y-81 "Bandit Edition" with W-72 performance 400 and a 4-speed. This is extremely desirable!

EXTERIOR: The "bandit edition" of course consisted of starlight black with all the gold trimmings. It also included the gold snowflake wheels, blacked out trim around the windows and gold inserts in the grills. Everything fits really well, the gaps are spot on. It is arrow straight. The paint overall is gorgeous. It looks like you could stick your arm right into it. It is not all chipped up behind the tires like you typically see on these. It will have minor imperfections if you go looking for them. The windshield is new. The weather strips and window seals are excellent.

INTERIOR: Overall very good condition. New upholstery on the seats. Carpets, door panels, headliner are very nice. Overall it is an 8 out of 10 with just minor imperfections, nothing significant that stands out. The special edition has the gold tinted machine turned instrument panel and gold spokes on the formula wheel. It has a tilt column. Everything is stock except for the modern stereo. The glovwbox pouch is complete with manuals and literature.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has a 400 motor that is absolutely smooth and quiet. It makes good sound out the tailpipes though! Upgraded with an Edelbrock intake painted blue to match the motor. It also has an Edelbrock and HEI ignition. Other than that it all looks stock- exhaust manifolds, valve covers etc. It has the snorkel equipment coming off the air cleaner. It features power steering and power brakes.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Rock solid original metal in the trunk. There are no splices in the quarter panels. It has been spatter painted, has a new mat. Bottom of the trunkand the jamb are glossy, has new weatherstrip.

UNDERSIDE: Under this car is very solid, proper and original. It has not been detailed to look pretty but if your know what your looking at it is very respectable. Looking up at the motor it is clean, has fresh Pontiac blue and new fuel pump. It has it's original close ratio Borg Warner 4-speed. The hole in the floor for the shifter is uncut original. Original limited slip rear end in back. The floors, braces, and even the inner quarters behind to tires are dry original metal. It has a recent dual exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers. It has air shocks in back.

Made tremendously popular by Smokey and the Bandit. This is the one to have, the car in the movie was a 1977. One of the most iconic cars in movie history.
