Vehicle Description

1955 Chevrolet 150

Ford started the trend in 1949 but Chevrolet soon caught up in 1955 when they incorporated the shoebox design fully into their cars. This was a big turning point for Chevrolet and was a major success. This year also brought the first successful Chevy with the optional V8 motor which designed to be lighter, smaller but more powerful than other V8s in the industry. This 1955 Chevrolet is an absolutely beautiful car and is considered a 150. It has had a full rotisserie restoration and is pretty much perfect throughout. It is like looking at a 55 that just rolled off the factory line except it may be even nicer! Over $70K was spent on the restoration and that just includes the parts, etc and not the labor. It was found in a barn with 27,174 original miles. Based on some of the oil change stickers that were on the car when found there is a good chance those are the original miles. On top of that this car was an early production car and number 14 off the line. Take a look at the undercarriage and you get a good idea of how extremely clean this car is. It is truly destined for a high level collection or even museum, it is that nice. It sits on the stock chassis that was entirely rebuilt. the body is laser straight with zero rust or body filler issues. It is painted in a Neptune Green color with an Ivory top. The paint is slick and looks great. All of the factory style stainless steel trim is brand new as is all of the chrome. The car rides on the original style stock wheels which are painted to match and fitted with dog dish hubcaps.

Under the hood is a nice crate 350 V8 motor that runs extremely well. The car has around 1,000 miles on it since completed so this motor has a long life ahead of it. It has stock style look with most of the components painted Chevrolet Orange or Black. It is paired with a Saginaw 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive and a 9 inch Ford rear end. It is set up to be a nice cruiser and at 70 miles per hour the tach shows around 2,000 rpms. It has disc brakes on all four and they aren't power assisted but have no issues. It really drives well and sounds great with a dual x pipe exhaust system. The electrical system has no problems and utilizes an American Auto Wire harness.

The interior of the car is complete in a two tone Gray and Black. The car is unique in that it was restored to a utility sedan meaning it has no back seat. If you were a traveling salesman back in the day this is the type of car you drove. It has a ton of storage space and the rear compartment was finished out well. The split bench seat up front looks good and the upholstery is new. The dash is very nicely done as well and has that original look. The only real aftermarket component is the Vintage AC and even that was installed using a factory looking compressor under the hood.

If you are looking for an original style 55 but want the best then look no further. The pictures really don't do it justice. This thing would look right at home sitting in a museum somewhere as it is the closest thing to a new 55 a lot of us will ever get to see.

Add it to your collection for $58,750.00!
