Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet L36-427 Corvette
Why This Car Is Special
The Chevrolet Corvette (C3) was a sports car that was produced by
Chevrolet for the 1968 through 1982 model years. "Stingray" script
nameplates appeared on front fenders, now one word, in contrast to
the "Sting Ray" name used previously.
Car and Driver magazine wrote in October 1968, "The small-engine
Corvettes are marginally fast and extraordinarily civilized. The
large-engine Corvettes are extraordinarily fast and marginally
civilized."
So is the restored 1969 Chevrolet Corvette 427 L36 Convertible we
have here at Skyway Classics. It has that long sleek look and the
power to back up the look.
Mechanical Specs
The 427cubic inch L36 V8 is this car's original, matching-numbers
engine, verified by the engine pad numbers showing its vin number
and the LM code too.
The LM code makes it the L36 427 cubic inch engine with a
substantial 390 horsepower, a Rochester Q-jet, Hydraulic Lifters,
and a 4-Speed transmission.
With endless reserves of torque and an attitude that practically
invites you to plant your foot on the floor, it's a blast to
drive.
Under the hood you will find the numbers-matching L36 427 cubic
inch V8 with 390 horse that looks as it did from the factory.
Everything appears correct, including the chrome valve covers,
aluminum intake, Quadrajet Carb, and stickers on the chrome air
cleaner. It's a clean engine bay and has a lot of factory
originality with factory correct hoses and clamps.
It rides on Rally wheels with chrome trim rings and caps and BF
Goodrich tires and the car rides and handles well with a
traditional Corvette look.
Interior
The original look continues to the black interior with its black
bucket seats, black carpets, door panels, three-spoke Corvette
wheel, 4-speed gearshift, the original gauge package with the large
speedo and tach, full auxiliary readout package, heat/defrost
controls, and the radio.
Exterior
Our restored 1969 Corvette look great in white so it should be no
surprise that it remains in great condition. The C3s are considered
by some as the best looking of the bunch with their chrome bumpers
and hidden windshield wipers, and this one is no exceptions.
It has the big block raised hood, 427 badging, great looking iconic
side "Gill" vents, the Stingray emblem, chrome dual exhaust tips
coming out of the back rear panel, and a super nice looking black
convertible top offsetting the white body paint.
Conclusion
The 1969 Corvette L36 Convertible we have here at Skyway Classics
is a great restored driver and a fun convertible to ride and drive
and enjoy, plus it is a numbers matching big block 427 L36
Corvette, who could ask for more.
