Classics live forever and this hot hatch is definitely a hall of famer. The first VW Golf R32 was only available in the United States for one year and now it’s a classic. Based on the fourth-generation Golf, the original R32 combines the best of sport and luxury. The plush cabin features Konig leather seats bearing the famous R logo, a double din screen, and heated front seats. The R32 shared the front suspension bushings and front spindles with the Audi-TT, allowing better handling and far more precise steering. From factory, the R32 came with a lower suspension, beefier brakes, a deep front spoiler, substantial rocker panels, and a bigger rear bumper housing two exhaust tips. Under the hood you will find the famed 3.2L, VR6 putting out 240hp stock mated to a six-speed manual that is linked to a Haldex part-time all-wheel-drive system. The R32 is swift yet sophisticated, tenacious yet tranquil. For the vast majority of enthusiast drivers, this was all the car they ever needed. Only 5,000 units were brought to the States.
