Vehicle Description
When it comes down to tuner Mustangs, no other name stands as tall
as Jack Roush. The cars (and engines) bearing the legendary name
represent the pinnacle of Blue Oval performance, something
demonstrated in excellent form by this 2009 Ford Mustang Roush
P-51B. Aeronautically themed and inspired by the hallowed North
American Aviation P-51 Mustang fighter plane that owned the skies
in WWII, there were only 51 of these limited editions '09 51-Bs
ever made, and this one happens to be #51. With only 1,571 actual
miles and offered with all of its original provenance, this dog
fighter remains practically in as-delivered condition, ready to
launch into battle with 510 horses under its nose.
The rather unusual Vapor Clearcoat Metallic finish is accentuated
by a unique stripe and decal package that harkens back to the
fighter jets of old, featuring a painted-on P51-B hood stripe and
matching 510HP decals, 'Roushcharged' graphics on the flanks of the
big hood scoop, a blacked-out tail-panel, and loads of super-cool
P-51B and Roush badges found throughout. Not surprisingly, the body
is reminiscent of the Roush 427R, but what sets it apart is the
unique six-piece Aerobody Kit with highlights like the dual-colored
Vapor front fascia, silver chin spoiler, silver hood scoop, silver
rear wing, and Vapor rear quarter-window louvers. With such low
mileage and coming out of such a well-known collection, the
physical presentation is basically immaculate, showing no
imperfections beyond a freckle-sized chip or two. The deeper Roush
chin spoiler isn't mangled and scraped, the special hood scoop sits
proudly atop the hood, and the rear wing fits so well that it's
hard to believe it was installed in three pieces. As usual, the
highest praise we can give a car is that it is like new, and this
car, aside from some tinted windows presents the way it would have
when the first owner unwrapped it on a very special day in 2009.
Roush was always careful to select upgrades that were functional,
not merely cosmetic, so the body add-ons add stability at high
speeds as well as force-feeding cool air to the supercharged power
plant living under the hood. Lower valance fog lights give the
front end a very purposeful look and the rear spoiler adds
downforce at speed, which is always welcome.
Inside you get special P51-B sports seating featuring black leather
hides with suede inserts, along with a few special touches that
were all part of Jack's dog-fighter Mustang. P-51 Embroidered sport
seats are supportive and comfortable and it's easy to get
comfortable behind that fat three-spoke steering wheel. Other
upgrades include a custom short-shifter topped with a P-51 shifter
ball, carbon fiber dash and center console appliques, white-faced
gauges with Stage 3 callouts, Roush door sill plates, P-51
embroidered floor mats, as well as a couple of P-51 badges and the
serialized #51 P51-B badge that are a big part of a limited
edition's appeal. All the other Mustang features made the
transition untouched, including cold A/C, power windows, locks,
mirrors, and seats, cruise control, and a kickin' Shaker AM/FM/CD
stereo. We dig Jack's dedication to making the car faster and it
shows inside where there's no extraneous gear, just the stuff you
need for the serious business of driving, and because the P-51B was
always meant to drive like it was chasing the Luftwaffe, you get an
extra boost gauge inlayed into one of the vent pods, and an ESCORT
Passport radar/laser defense system installed in the center stack.
The trunk is standard Mustang, so it's got plenty of room, and this
car also carries the ultra-cool and very expensive custom Roush
tool kit built into the trunk lid. You're going to love it!
Power comes primarily from that big honkin' supercharger sitting on
top of Ford's 4.6 liter V8 engine. Called the "Roushcharger," it
delivers enough boost to generate 510 horsepower and 510 pounds of
torque. Custom tuning means it runs and drives just like a stocker
and it's docile enough that your grandmother could drive it every
day and not know the monster that lives within. Other goodies
include a full Stage 3 suspension with a wheel hop reduction kit, a
custom Roush exhaust that sounds magnificent, and a few under-hood
dress-up items, not the least of which is the blacked-out
supercharger case and oversized cone air filter. There's another
bespoke P-51B badge under the hood that shows off the car's rarity,
and as you might expect it's all dressed up for show. Along with
the sporty suspension it's got the brakes to keep it under control
too, with 14-inch 2-piece slotted rotors and 6-piston calipers up
front and custom slotted rear rotors. Roush also provides a set of
black chrome wheels that look nasty and are shod with sticky
Michelin 275/40/18 rubber that keeps it planted to the ground.
Fully documented, this is #51 out of 51 total 2009 P51-Bs ever
built. Ultra-rare and ready to dominate the show field or the race
track, this is the specialty Mustang for the discerning car
collector. Call now!
