Vehicle Description
CPR Classic is thrilled to offer this immaculate 1958 Porsche 356A
Coupe finished in the rare factory original color combination of
Stone Gray over a red leather interior.
This '58 356 underwent a complete ground-up, every nut and bolt
comprehensive restoration to the highest standards approximately
three years ago. Deluxe Customs of Tempe, Arizona, performed the
disassembly, bare metal body restoration, and assembly of the car.
The body was brought down to complete bare metal, and all necessary
metalwork was performed with panel replacement as needed. Upon
completion of the metalwork, the body was sealed and put in primer.
The undercarriage was then undercoated, and the body was painted in
the factory-correct single-stage color of Stone Gray.
The owner sourced and built a 912 engine for the project. The case
and heads were sent to Competition Engineering of Lake Havasu City
for their respective cleaning, machine work, and assembly of the
heads. A 1720cc Big-bore kit was installed, and a new lightweight
crankshaft was sourced for the build. Solex PII-40 carburetors were
sourced and overhauled by Carburetor Rescue. The car's original
numbers-matching transmission was disassembled and rebuilt,
including a tall "freeway flyer" fourth gear by AZ Transaxle of
Phoenix, Arizona. Competition Engineering performed the final
sorting, setup, and tuning of the engine.
The interior was restored in red leather by renowned interior
specialists at Stuttgart Southwest in Phoenix, Arizona. The gauges
were sent to Palo Alto Speedometer for full overhaul as well.
The overall level of restoration on this car is outstanding. No
stone was left unturned from the metalwork through final assembly.
The car's undercarriage presents in superb condition, and correct
plated hardware was used throughout. A new set of Tecnomagnesio
wheels were installed, and the car's ride height was set up lower
than factory settings for an outlaw aesthetic.
The final presentation of this 356A meets every standard that CPR
Classic lives by. The restoration work that was performed is in
keeping with our highest standards. The driving experience is
better than new with a beautifully set up and sorted suspension
system, backed by a drivetrain that elevates the car to the next
level.
In the last three years since completion, this 356 has lived with
the owner that commissioned the restoration in Sedona, Arizona. It
has been driven sparingly, and it is evident that keeping the car
in peak restored condition was the top priority. With just over
1,400 miles since completion, this 356A offers an excellent
opportunity to step into a turn-key, exceptional 356A without
having to go through the lengthy process of commissioning a
restoration.
This example has been tastefully modified and will serve its next
owner as a perfect car to show or drive for thousands of worry-free
miles to come. Don't miss this spectacular 356A!
