Vehicle Description
This 1951 Ford F-1 is a very vintage-looking pickup, but as you
look a little closer, you also get hints at the solid V8 upgrade
under the hood.
The bright red paint has a nice shine that loves to show off the
curvy fenders and cab that make this F-1 an icon. There are some
subtle upgrades that are well-integrated but also hint at some more
attitude. You see it in places like the smooth gray paint on the
grille, blue-dot taillights, black liner paint on the running
boards, tinted windows, and bright dual exhaust tips. Plus, you
have a great looking set of smoothie wheels that draw your eye to
the more aggressive stance. But even with these upgrades, the real
oak wood lining the bed floor always reminds you this is a true
vintage pickup.
The interior follow a similar theme of a classic style with the
right upgrades. The smooth red dash and doors have that vintage
steel feel. These are joined by some nice upgrades, like the comfy
velour bench seat, full carpeting, and a proper headliner. There's
even newer glass and rubber seals for a quality feel in the
fundamentals. You'll slip behind the large and grippy classic three
spoke steering wheel, and you get a great vintage sensation in
everything from the factory gauges to the floor shifter.
This truck was born in the flathead V8 era, and so if they are
going to replace an icon, it's great to see they did it with
another blue oval legend. It's a 302 cubic-inch unit borrowed from
a Thunderbird. The V8 has a been dressed for added flair with
Edelbrock finned valve covers and polished components, including
the Edelbrock air grabber. The way this one fires up readily lets
you know this has been maintained properly. And Sanderson Street
Rod Headers give an extra kick of power while also helping to give
the dual exhaust a nice tune. Add in a three-speed automatic
transmission, wide modern tires, and a Mustang II front end w/power
front disc brakes, and this upgraded pickup is a fine all-around
driver.
This is the first-gen F-Series that drives with added confidence.
