Very desirable numbers matching LS-5 454, 4-speed with 3.70 posi.
If that's not exciting enough, it is also eye popping Daytona
yellow. It has been frame off restored. I think it is exceptional
throughout.
In the video I mistakenly said the previous owner had the car since
1988, he actually bought it in 2013. It was ground up restored when
he bought it but he did spend $10,000 getting things very well
sorted. It functions as good as it looks.
EXTERIOR: The body was completely stripped down and repainted in
it's original Daytona yellow, code 984. We have pictures of the
body stripped bare. Everything fits really well including the
headlight and wiper doors. The paint is smooth and glossy. I
inspected it and found only 2 minor flaws. Even the jambs are
painted real nice including by the hinges. The front and rear
bumpers were rechromed and fit nice. It still has the stone shields
in the grill protecting the headlights. The front spoiler is not
cracked. Door handles and antenna look original. The big blocks
have the raised hood with chrome inserts. All coupes have removable
T-tops and the rear window actually pops out. They can be stored
behind the seats. It has the original 15x8 rally wheels with all
new trim. The BFG tires were recently replaced.
INTERIOR: I'm sitting in the car and I think it's in very nice
shape. The dash pad is excellent, the whole center console is real
nice, the heater controls were rebuilt. It has the correct reverse
lockout shifter. The gauges were all restored, the clock was
upgraded to quartz movement. The original radio is included
(previous owner has it, remind us). Turn signal switch was
replaced. The door panels look like new. It has genuine leather
upholstery on the seats in excellent shape. I'm looking all around
and it is very nice- the plastic trim, kick panels, visors, mirror,
carpet etc.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Desirable 512 block, high perf is cast right
onto it. Vin number matching 454 LS-5 motor. 1970 is the most
desirable because it was the highest horsepower hitting 390.
Overall it is very clean, tidy and proper. Restored to factory
condition- stock manifolds, valve covers, air cleaner and ignition
shielding. The ignition was upgraded with Pertronix. The horns were
replaced. Features include power steering and power brakes. The
vacuum lines are run neatly. The clutch fan, shroud and expansion
tank look proper. The heater core was replaced. It has a new
reproduction Quadrant carb. The motor compartment is exceptionally
clean, all the components and surfaces are very nice. There's an
oil change sticker under the hood, it's only had about 9000 miles
put on a car in the last 28 years.
UNDERSIDE: There are pictures of the body off the frame. The
chassis was restored and detailed. The front end looks like it's
been completely rebuilt-the bushings, balljoints, shocks, hardware,
tie rods etc. The power steering control valve was replaced.
Looking up at the motor, it is still very clean, new high torque
starter. It has a correct Muncie 4-speed, rebuilt during
restoration. The rear end is the original 3.70 posi. The rear
suspension also looks like it was rebuilt- shocks, bushings, spring
etc. There is a chambered dual exhaust system with correct square
tips coming out through the valance. Fiberglass floors look to be
in great shape. It has the spare tire carrier. It has disc brakes
at all 4 corners. Replaced during restoration, recently
serviced.
This is one of those that got better the closer I looked at it. The
car looks great, it functions great. The combination of features
and colors make this a very desirable, exciting and collectable
Corvette!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
