1920 Dodge Brother Pickup Truck
Car History
Dodge Brothers was an American brand of automobile manufactured by
the Dodge brothers (John and Horace) who got their start making
parts for Ford and other makers.
From the first Dodge Brothers automobile in 1914, the Dodge
brothers' durability and quality earned their company a strong
reputation and good sales.
They did not build an actual truck until World War I, though with a
half-ton capacity and a 35 horsepower four-cylinder engine.
Both of the Dodge Brothers died from the Spanish flu in 1920, and
the company was sold by their families to Dillon, Read & Co. in
1925 before being sold to Chrysler in 1928.
We have a 1920 Dodge Brother pickup truck here at Adventure
Classics and we believe it to be a very, very rare truck.
Engine & Drivetrain
As we stated earlier, this truck has what we believe to be the
original 35 horsepower four-cylinder engine that it left the
factory with way back then as well as all the factory components
like the intake, heads, carb, and most other parts.
Our truck starts right up, the clutch and transmission work
perfectly, and this truck is road ready right now. It is without a
doubt a rare piece of automotive history.
We believe this truck came with wooden wagon wheels but they have
been changed out to the wire wheels that is on it now with the
blackwall tires.
Interior
The interior looks as it did too from the early days with the black
upholstered seat, green painted dash, gauges, wood steering wheel,
shifter, interior flooring in wood, refinished bed wood and side
steps.
Exterior
All the metal on our Dodge is still original on this nearly century
old Dodge and painted in a shade of green that it came in with a
new black canvas top fabricated during the restoration.
There are no rips or tears anywhere. All gauges work, lights, horn,
and everything. This truck has obviously been very well taken care
of over the years and you just will not see these come along very
often, if ever, and especially in this condition.
Conclusion
1920 as most avid Dodge collectors know, was the year that both
Dodge
Brothers died and that the company was sold just a few years
later.
That makes this 1920 Dodge Brother pickup truck here at Adventure
Classics very rare and for being nearly 100 years old, it is really
in unbelievable condition.
