Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this handsome 1972
Mercedes-Benz 250CE. This W114 coupe, also known as a Stroke 8, is
a European-market example that was originally delivered to the wife
of a retired U.S. diplomat in Malaga, Spain. When she and her
husband moved to the US in 1976, she brought the car with her (she
and subsequent owners have meticulously kept it in outstanding
condition). It's finished in the attractive combination of 050
white over red MB-tex interior and is unusually optioned with floor
shift automatic transmission, power steering, tinted glass, factory
skid plates and (ice cold) air conditioning - but factory radio,
sunroof and power window delete.
We find it amazing how timeless Paul Bracq's design remains when
seen in this early Euro form - and fortunately this example was
never federalized so it retains its attractive glass headlamps with
integrated fog lights and lovely small chrome bumpers. It has
143,000 KM (89,000 miles) which we believe to be original. The car
has seen one high-quality repaint in the correct color - panel gaps
and shut lines are excellent as is the underside.
The interior remains in very nice, mostly original condition - the
wood has been professionally restored and the clock has been
converted to quartz movement. Gauges and switchgear are in
excellent working order. The electronically fuel injected 2.5 liter
6-cylinder engine starts easily hot or cold and runs beautifully -
it's mated to a smooth-shifting 4-speed automatic.
Recent service has included brake rebuild, shocks, tie rods and
alignment, a/c service, new tires on factory wheels and more. A
number of new spare parts are included along with some service
records, tool roll, first aid kit and factory service manuals. This
is certainly one of the best Stroke 8s available and would make a
nice addition to any collection. For more information about this
