An Ideal Grand Touring and Rally Capable XK150 S Eligible for
Prestigious Events Around the World
Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the
XK150 was radically modernized. A one piece windscreen replaced the
split screen, and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the
doors. The alloy bonnet was also widened and opened down to the
wings. In the cabin, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by
an elegantly leather trimmed dash. Thinner doors gave the interior
needed space as well. Four-wheel Dunlop 12 in. Disc-Brakes appeared
for the first time, appropriate for the "most refined" model of the
XK100 series.
S830587DN was completed June 2, 1958 and dispatched on the 13th of
that month, as a U.S. specification "3.4 Litre S" through Jaguar
Cars, New York - finished in Carmen Red paint over Black leather
upholstery and top. The XK150 S is said to have been a long-term
California / Arizona car prior to its early-mid 1990's restoration
and subsequent sale in 1996. The Roadster ultimately found its way
into private care in Pennsylvania, where it would remain under the
same ownership for the last 20 years. The car was shown and
displayed early on, and casually enjoyed thereafter.
Out of long-term ownership, S830587DN presents well, while highly
capable as a strong tourer. Carmen Red paintwork (as delivered) is
complemented by chrome wire wheels shod in period style 600-16
General whitewall tires, 672/682 Marchall driving lamps, J-Lamp
headlights, and plenty of brightwork. A black canvas top folds down
to reveal a beautifully trimmed tan leather cabin, with matching
tan canvas hood cover. A full-cab, half-zip tonneau protects the
driving compartment during open motoring or storage. The interior's
restoration remains well kept from thoughtful care, and presentable
for casual display or continued use. Electric overdrive and factory
appointments accentuate the experience, while all lights,
instruments, safety equipment, keys and locks remain in working
order. With a wrap-around windscreen and roll up windows, the 150s
offer a much more pleasant top-down experience than their older
siblings.
Along with its striking livery, this XK150 excels in drivability,
pairing well to beautifully mellowed cosmetics for an immediate
carefree driving experience. A Winter 2020 inspection and service
included a cooling system refresh, addressing a re-core of the
original radiator, all new radiator hoses, thermostat and other
consumable items, sway bar bushings, brake master cylinder, all new
fluids and filters, along with the aforementioned new 600-16 tires
and tubes. Additionally the cosmetics received a nearly thirty-hour
detailing from top to bottom including a steam cleaning of the
underside. The odometer reads just over 75,000 recorded miles.
An appropriately dressed engine bay is orderly and appears
authentic in presentation, with proper finishes, hoses, and
auxiliary equipment. It retains original identification plaques and
its original numbers-matching engine (and head), as verified by
Jaguar Heritage Trust - bound in an embossed leather binder. The
luggage compartment trimmed in matching biscuit upholstery, comes
equipped with jack, wrench, grease gun, Thor hammer, and spare
wheel assembly.
A dossier of select records from previous ownership accompanies,
along with a copy of the Jaguar XK150 Operating, Maintenance and
Service Handbook. Early sporting Jaguars command attention with
their stunningly elegant lines and fierce performance. This XK150
is no exception and a great opportunity to acquire the most refined
variant of the XK100 class. S830587DN is now available for
worldwide purchase and delivery from our Houston, Texas
showroom.
