Here is a real sleeper! A true Bel Air with a big block, 5-speed
and 4.11 posi lurking underneath it. Also upgraded with 4 wheel
disc, rack & pinion steering and air conditioning. Right out of
Arizona, this is an original metal, rust free car!! Not many of
these still exist. The vin # tells us this was born in California
as a Bel Air with a V-8. Ground up restoration finished in 2017. We
have a flash drive of pictures and 2 folders stuffed with receipts
documenting the restoration.
EXTERIOR: What gorgeous colors on this Bel Air. We have photos
showing it stripped down to bare, it's an all metal car with no
rust. The body is absolutely straight top to bottom. All the panels
fit square and flush. It's completely smooth everywhere. No
bubbles, no damage, no cracking that I could find. The paint is a
very glossy finish. I did find a few small nicks touched up. We
have the paint formula in the receipts. The bumpers are both smooth
1 piece, no bumper bolts showing. Up front the grill bar and bezels
look new. The bird on the hood has some minor wear. The stainless
trim down the sides, around the windows and doors looks new. The
emblems and tail light assemblies are new. The door jambs are
painted real nicely. The latches, weather strips, sill plates and
window seals are new. All new green tinted glass. It has painted
steel rims with poverty caps for that sleeper look. The extra wide
rims with Mickey Thompson tires in back might tip off that there
isn't a 265 under the hood.
INTERIOR: It was completely gutted to a bare shell. There are
pictures and the floor is clean. It was then lined with Dynamax
sound deadener. The dash and trim was repainted turquoise. New
carpet and matching mats down on the floor with a Hurst shifter
sticking out of it. The seats have been completely rebuilt. New
cushions and upholstery. The door panels are upholstered to match.
New seat belts in front with retractable shoulder belts. The gauge
cluster is very clean. There is a new tachometer mounted on the
column. The clock was rebuilt with quartz movement. It is a new
tilt column with a reproduction 16 inch steering wheel. A Vintage
Air unit neatly hangs below the dash. Overhead it has a new
perforated white headliner, reupholstered visors, a day night
mirror and a working LED dome light. It has a radio delete plate
but there is a stereo hidden in the glovebox. New power front
windows, the rears roll up smooth.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: A 454 motor was rebuilt and installed in 2016.
Has Comp roller cam and aluminum roller rockers. On top it has a
polished intake Edelbrock carb and HEI ignition. In front it has a
serpentine belt system, modern a/c system, power steering and nee
alternator. A set of Heddman headers are on each side. An aluminum
radiator keeps it cool. It has electric wipers and a dual reservoir
master cylinder. The whole front clip was off the car so the engine
bay is all painted very nicely. The wiring is run very neatly, it
has new hood hinges.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Completely clean solid metal. Under the trunk
lid has been repainted, it has the new insulation kit and weather
strip. The trunk floor is carpeted.
UNDERSIDE: The front end has been completely rebuilt. All new ball
joints, bushings, shocks etc. It has an upgraded sway bar and drop
spindles. Also upgraded with a rack and pinion steering system. All
new rear suspension too- leaf springs, bushings, shocks, tubular
control arms, upper panhard bar. The springs were relocated inward
for mini tubs and a wider tire. The brake system has been upgraded
with disc at all four wheels. It looks like the hoses and lines
were replaced, the e-brake cables are hooked up. New fuel tank,
straps, sending unit, lines and pump. Looking up at the motor it
still looks fresh. It has an extra capacity oil pan and a high
torque starter. The transmission is upgraded with a Tremec 5-speed
with Hurst linkage. New heavy duty drive shaft. In back it has a
Ford 9 inch rear with new 4.11 posi gears and 31 spline Moser
axles. Custom made exhaust system has Flowmaster mufflers and
resonators. Look at how clean the original floors are. They
purposely have not even painted over. This way you can see they
have not been worked on. They appear to be bone dry, rust free
original floors, braces and rockers.
