For Sale: 1957 MG MGA 1500 in Stratford, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

A nice, clean early MGA....no history, so a bit of a guessing game.

Very straight body (even the alloy hood and trunk lid aren't wavy, see the 'mirror image' in the photos), very nice deep BRG paint.  All of the key chrome parts appear to be new, interior appears to be fairly new, HAS A NEW wiring harness (covered in cloth) and nothing is better for reliability that all new wiring.

Engine runs so well, had to check the casting number to confirm it IS a 1500....feels faster than most 1600s or even 1800 engined MGAs.  Maybe the Weber carb is responsible (and if you consider yourself a 'purist,' we can fit proper H4 SUs).  Out of curiosity, did a compression check...175-180 psi in every cylinder......appropriate for a big WOW!   And 60+ psi oil pressure at a 160 degree operating temperature.  And looking around the engine and engine bay, engine paint appears to have been done out of the car, new engine mounts, new hoses and clamps....can't authenticate it but 'sure appears to have been recently rebuilt to me.'  And with such high compression, perhaps 'tweaked' a bit.

Gearbox also feels ''as new' with strong synchromesh action and quiet operation.

Has a fairly new tan top, new side curtains and new tonneau cover (and all mounting hardware), all working gauges, wire wheels with fairly new tires (of the proper size), new electric fuel pump, quiet exhaust, working modern stereo (meaning, of course, has been converted to negative ground), proper Lucas driving lights, excellent wood floors, rebuilt heater assembly, brakes working well, on and on and on.   A very nice MGA in what must be the ideal color combination.  (and we just discovered something else that every sports car owner needs:  a working power antenna along with a CD changer and Alpine speakers...a clear indication some past owner invested good money in a very good car)

And a nice running and driving MGA (and this is one of them) makes about the perfect compromise in  a classic sports car.   Granted, no running boards but, then again, one of the most beautiful shapes in ANY classic sports car and at any price.  Easy to service and maintain, parts are readily available, AND IF YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR MGA...........you can have us fit a more powerful engine, 5 speed transmission and have a car that will put a big Healey to shame (and at a pittance of the cost).

What a perfect means of practicing social distancing, take your little MGA out for a drive in the country!
