this car.
Seven Hills Motorcars is very proud to offer this beautiful 1981
Mercedes Benz 380SL in excellent condition with only 90,030
original miles. It looks spectacular, runs great, and is an awesome
driver. The market on the R107 SL is absolutely red hot right now
and this example is priced to sell. Low mileage and original
examples of the R107 Mercedes SL are exceptionally difficult to
find and draw a huge premium in the current market. The low
original mileage is also verified not only by the condition of the
car, but also by the clear Ohio title, pictured in this ad, showing
the mileage as "Actual."
There is a stack of receipts that come with the car. The receipts
total over $6,200 for repairs and maintenance over the years. The
original owners manual, books, cruise control card, and top
wrenches are also still with the car. There is also a copy of the
AutoCheck vehicle history report in this ad. The report is totally
clean, shows no accident history, and verifies the low mileage.
This 380SL comes with both the soft-top and auxiliary hardtop. This
is an excellent opportunity to own a classic Mercedes that is ready
to be used and enjoyed at an unbeatable value. One could easily buy
this car now and sell it for more than the purchase price in years
to come. This Mercedes is finished in the absolutely beautiful and
highly desirable color combination of Black (040) over Grey (238)
interior with a Black (740) soft-top. This is the correct and
original color scheme as verified by the specification sheet from
Mercedes-Benz classic that is included with the car and pictured in
this ad, which also details all the factory options. Please peruse
all of the photos, video, option codes, and other information in
this ad to get a true sense of clean and nice this 380SL really
is.
As a side note, this Mercedes is not a dealer auction vehicle. We
hand pick each car after careful inspection. Our classics come from
owners who expect their cars to go to someone that will give the
vehicle the same care and attention as they did. We invite and
encourage you to examine the car in person or have the car
inspected. Please take the time to scrutinize each picture. We
photograph each vehicle to the greatest extent so you can feel
confident about your purchase. If you have a question about the
380SL, just give us a call.
Exterior
The Black exterior is in excellent driver condition. As one can see
in the photos, the paint has a brilliant gloss and deep shine. Both
doors open and shut nicely; it has that solid Mercedes touch and
feels like a vault door closing. The wire wheels are in great shape
with a brilliant finish and no curb rash. The Goodyear tires are in
great condition with plenty of tread left. The chrome and other
bright-work look nice. There are no major imperfections that have
been intentionally excluded from the photos. As one would expect
from a paintjob with many years on it there are some small
blemishes on the trunk lid and around the car that are too tiny so
show up in the photos, but nothing that is really noticeable from
about five or ten feet away. As one can see in the many photos of
the underside, this 380SL is very clean underneath. We have also
included specific photos of the rockers, lower front and rear
quarter panels, and other areas on the car most prone to rust to
show how nice it looks.
Interior
The Grey interior of the 380SL looks fantastic. The seats are in
excellent condition with no tears, rips, or excessive wear. The
seat is not overly worn at all in the typical spot on the driver's
bolster where the driver gets in and out. All of the gauges faces
are crisp and clean and the lenses are clear. The carpet is also in
great condition with no rips, holes, or major stains. The original
door panels look wonderful and both door pulls are solid and
intact. The Black convertible soft-top is in great condition with
no rips, holes, or frayed edges. The rear windows are not yellowed
or foggy. The dash is in good condition with no sun fading. The
Mercedes radio in the car works well and the original radio is also
included and pictured in this ad. This car has never been smoked
in; there is no aroma of cigarettes whatsoever and no burn marks.
The trunk is very clean and nicely detailed with the original spare
tire, and rim, jack.
The excellent condition of this original interior is a huge
testament to the meticulous care and attention this Mercedes has
received throughout its life.
Mechanical
This 380SL appears to be in very nice mechanical condition and it
is ready to be enjoyed. As stated above there are over $6,200 in
receipts for maintenance and repairs on the car. The engine starts
right away every time, idles smooth, and runs well. It is an
exceptional driver that feels great on the road and at highway
speeds. In the video one can observe the car accelerating on the
highway up to about 70mph, shifting through all the gears, braking
to a stoplight, and going through some curves. Please note that it
runs great, there are no strange noises or vibrations, and the car
performs quite nice overall. The brakes are responsive and do not
pull to one side or the other. There is no blue smoke when starting
or driving the car. It runs cool and does not overheat. The gauge
shows that the engine makes great oil pressure. Also, the engine
bay is clean, nicely detailed, and correct as one can see from the
photos.
Please note in the video the dash warning lights are working
properly; they light up when the key is first turned on and then go
off when the engine is started as they should. There are no "check
engine" lights that stay on. The horn works as do the fog lights,
headlights, brights, turn signals, interior lights, power windows,
power antenna, power locks, indicators, dash gauge lights, wipers,
and power antenna. The a/c works and blows cold. All of the gauges
work; even the clock keeps time. This Mercedes is smooth and quick
with the 3.8 liter V8 engine. Not enough can be said as to how much
of a pleasure it is to drive this car, especially with the top down
on a beautiful day.
Overall Condition
Overall, this 1981 380SL is in excellent condition and is a true
bargain at our asking price. The market on the R107 body style SL
Mercedes is very strong right now, particularly for low mileage
examples in excellent condition like this car. The great condition,
great service history, and highly desirable original color
combination make this 380SL particularly important and difficult to
duplicate. This Mercedes is a great value and will only appreciate
over time. Someone could easily enjoy this vehicle for several
years and sell it for more than the purchase price with minimal
effort.
Thank you for looking and please do not hesitate to email or call
with any questions.
