It's hard not to get excited about an affordable 1972 Oldsmobile
Cutlass Supreme coupe that been restored with a custom paint theme
inside and out. And the original Olds 350 V8 under the hood even
gets an extra kick of power.
You know from the moment you lay eyes on this coupe that it's no
ordinary Cutlass. It has a terrific paint theme that starts with a
bold blue with a metallic element that loves the sunshine. There's
a full black accent package laid on top of this. You have detailed
black side stripes that really draw attention to some of this
coupe's best profile lines. Plus, the dual racing stripe are fully
panted on top, including the roof. This is joined by the blackout
grille, headlight bezels, taillight trim, and tinted windows for a
well-coordinated dark side. Big Weld Racing wheels and wide dual
exhaust tips give it plenty of mean-looking pieces. Plus, there's
an overall feeling of quality in the details, including the rockers
and form-fitting chrome bumpers.
Inside is more of the custom presentation. Where the exterior was
blue with black accents, the interior is dominated by black with
plenty of blue details. This is a well-done look with thoughtful
touches, like the Hurst shifter in the center console. And we like
how the custom look of the front bucket seats still follows the
classic Olds-style upholstery pattern. More of this correct-style
presentation is in the four-spoke sports steering wheel and plenty
of clean wood-like trim. This even appears to be a factory air
conditioning car (it will need components and servicing to return
the function.) So you just know this is the right one to roll down
all the windows on this pillarless coupe and enjoy a long
drive.
Oldsmobile people know that a Rocket 350 cubic-inch engine is
something very special. They manufactured their own V8s in this
era, and these are legendary for being hardy motors. So it's
fantastic to see the original numbers-matching motor in the engine
bay. But while this correct golden block looks great radiating from
this dark and tidy setup, there's more here than just stock. The V8
inhales deeper with an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, and it
exhales with added authority and power as long tube headers feed
the dual exhaust. It's a strong V8 that starts easy thanks to an
HEI ignition. When you get you on the road, you also feel that this
has the right features for a great all-around driver. It includes
power steering, a three-speed automatic transmission, power brakes,
sway bars front & rear, and Firestone Firehawk tires with extra
meaty rear ones.
