Only 18 miles on a body off the frame restoration. It is new, new,
new. Everywhere I looked the parts are new. The 1970 Chevelle is
arguably the most desirable muscle car. This one here is the
ultimate with an incredible list of features- Super Sport, 454
LS-6, 4 speed, cowl induction, gauges and many more options. If you
didn't notice... it's red too! You could not get an LS-6 with air,
this one even has a new Vintage Air system added.
EXTERIOR: Original code 75 Cranberry red car. The body is
beautiful. It is straight everywhere I look. The panels fit nice,
square and flush. It has smooth glossy red paint from the rockers
on up. The stripes are painted on smooth to the touch. This one has
an actual cowl induction hood with functional flapper door. It
looks like all of the trim has been replaced- bumpers, lenses,
grill, emblems, hood pins, moldings etc. It has a new windshield
and all the stainless around it. The jambs are painted beautifully,
it has new weather strips and window seals. The SS rims are
restored and they have new BF Goodrich tires. The black convertible
top is new, the frame is painted and has new weather strips. The
power top pump was replaced.
INTERIOR: As I sit in the car everything in front of me is brand
new. The entire instrument panel with all of it's chrome trimmings,
the dash pad, Super Sport gauges with tachometer and working clock.
It has updated vintage air heater controls with electric levers
instead of cables. New retro stereo. New mirror, knobs and vents.
There is new new deluxe wheel on a tilt column. Even up under the
dash all the wiring, fuse block and climate system is new. Down on
the floor it has new carpet, new console with a Hurst 4-speed
sticking out of it. The seats have new upholstery, chrome and
plastic trim. The kick panels have molded in speakers. The door
panels, window cranks and armrests are new.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: It has an original 1970 LS-6 454 block with the
desirable 512 casting #. The stamped #s were ground off when the
block was remachined. It has a factory GM LS-6 aluminum intake and
square port heads. All the components look new- dual feed Holley
carb, alternator, wiper motor, distributor, brackets, pulleys etc.
It has stock exhaust manifolds, chrome valve covers and a complete
cowl induction air cleaner assembly. New power brake system with
cadmium plated brake booster. New power steering system. New wiring
harness. The washers are hooked up. It also has new radiator,
shroud, fan, hoses and reproduction clamps. New battery is bolted
down properly, new cables. It was upgraded with a new Vintage Air
heat and a/c system. It is detailed like factory new.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: It is solid metal with a spatter finish paint.
New mat, weather strip, latch assembly and well liner. The spare
tire has a painted SS rim, it has a complete jack assembly. Under
the trunk lid and the jamb are painted glossy.
UNDERSIDE: The body was pulled from the chassis for a thorough
restoration. It has the F-41 suspension which includes sway bars
and boxed rear control arms. The front end is all new- balljoints,
bushings, shocks, tie rods etc. We just had it aligned. Looking up
at the motor it is spotless, has high torque starter. The trans is
a correct 1970 M-21 Muncie 4-speed. The linkage is new. In back it
has original 12 bolt rear with 3.31 posi gears. Every item under
this car looks new down to the bolts. The brakes are all new, has
disc in front. E-brake cables, hoses and lines look new. The fuel
system looks new- tank, straps, sending unit and lines. The exhaust
is new with Thrush mufflers and cow bell tips. The floors are all
smooth clean metal painted semi gloss black. New body bushings.
I drove this car home in the dark. It ran, shifted and rode great.
Dash and interior lights worked, the heater can cook you. I was
impressed by the way it felt and functioned. Incredibly desirable
car!
