1929 Cadillac Lasalle that was purchased new in Detroit and driven to Los Angeles in 1936. In 1965 it was sold to its second owner who cared for it many years before passing it on to his son who I acquired the car from in November 2020. That is over 55 years of single family ownership! During that time it resided in Southern California, always garaged except when on tours.
In the 1970s this rare Lasalle had a professional repaint that still shines beautifully today but has many minor chips and some lacquer cracking due to age. The body is extremely straight and rust free. There is no evidence of any rust repair or patch panels ever on the car. All of the brightwork still shows quite well for its age. The interior is in good shape showing minor wear. All of the windows roll up and down nicely.
Mechanically the car runs very well and drives just as good. 1929 was the first year of the synchronized 3 speed transmission. The brakes work well, I was quite impressed considering they are mechanical. All of the gauges work except the clock. Windshield wiper is not hooked up and the headlight switch needs some attention. it is currently stuck in the off position and I have not had time to address it, may be as simple as some lube in the right places. The fuel system was upgraded to an electric fuel pump instead of the original vacuum type. Tires are very old Dunlops that have some cracks but hold air nicely with good tread.
Extremely rare car that would be an excellent addition to any collection.
This car is most likely a 1930 model but because it was first registered in 1929 the title says the same. I can correct it for the next buyer if desired.
