Vehicle Description
This 1989 Chevrolet Cavalier Z/24 Convertible represents the kind
of car we don't get too see too often anymore. And more than just
uniqueness, this is a loaded V6 machine with a terrifically
preserved presentation. So it's great to get all of this together
in a value-priced package.
There's a nice gloss on this convertible that makes the white look
ready for the sunshine. Not only is this the factory-correct color,
but it also shows all the right signs of being the original
application. In fact, the whole car has a well-preserved survivor
style. Even the odometer is believed to reflect the actual mileage
(averaging under 1,500 miles annually.) The Z/24 package was a bit
more expensive and it came with V6 power, and so Chevy made sure
these has added sporty style. The blackout grille, black trim, red
Chevy bow ties, and distinct 14-inch alloys make this look
particularly attractive. And the factory body kit adds to the
sporty look while also giving this a subtle silver two-tone.
The blue interior has a true premium look against the white
exterior. And while this is a value-priced classic, the Z/24 was
the range-topper for the Cavalier. That means an interior loaded
with all the best features. The high-back bucket seats are all-day
comfortable. The plush velour is always going to be appreciated
over vinyl on those days when you hop in with shorts on, and low
miles means little seat time, so they remain looking excellent.
There's a grippy sports steering wheel on a tilt column, and beyond
that is a full set of gauges. It has nice factory features like
cruise control, power locks, and the premium Delco AM/FM/cassette
stereo with five-band equalizer. Power windows and a power
convertible top mean you never have to leave the driver's seat when
you want to open this one up to the world. And the factory air
conditioning has been converted to cold-blowing R134a. So you can
enjoy the top-down experience even in the summertime.
The engine bay looks as correct and original as the rest of the
car. The 2.8-liter fuel-injected V6 was the optional upgrade over
the standard four-cylinder engine. This one has been treated with
proper care as it fires up easily and the three-speed automatic
transmission shifts smoothly. The V6 has a nice home in a car like
this with the Cavalier's light weight and nimble steering. And
power steering, power brakes w/front discs, and a thick rear sway
bar are great for all-around diving enjoyment.
Complete with owner's manual, this is a preserved and premium
convertible that is going to be a unique addition to any scene. So
