Motorcar Studio is please to offer this 1967 Mercedes-Benz 200
Fintail. Finished in dark blue over bamboo tex interior, this is a
remarkably honest and well-preserved Euro-spec example in great
colors and with single family ownership to new. Repainted once to a
good standard in the original color about a decade ago; the finish
presents nicely over a straight and rust-free body. Bumpers,
chrome, trim, grille and lenses are in excellent original
condition. Solid floors, rockers and trunk bottom with no known
rust issues.
The interior has held up remarkably well, a testament to 1960s
Mercedes build quality - crack free dash, excellent wood, nice door
panels, seat upholstery and headliner, and one of the
best-preserved original steering wheels we've ever seen. Newer
carpets. Original Becker radio plus all gauges and instrument
lights are working as they should.
This car was purchased new in Colombia by the current owner's aunt.
The 2.0 liter W110 variant of the Fintail was popular among wealthy
Colombians vs the six-cylinder W111 because the taxes were much
lower on anything 2.0 liters or less. The M121 four cylinder is fed
by twin carburetors and mated to a four-speed column-shift manual
transmission. Clutch and gearbox feel good with no crunchy synchros
and the shift linkage feels precise. This car runs and drives well
and feels like the "put together" and well-cared-for example that
it is. Offered for sale for the first since new (and the first time
ever in the U.S.).
