Vehicle Description
What can you say about this stunning combination Silver Shadow II
finished in white with hand-painted fine lines in burgundy to the
waist lines and the hubcap beauty rings. The Connolly interior is
finished in regal St James red Connolly hides with beige piping and
matching deep red Wilton wool carpets. The same red carpeting theme
carries through to the boot. The interior makes for a striking
combination with the exterior. Being a 1980 model, this car has all
the design and engineering enhancements that are associated with
hand-built motor cars. Through the 15 years production run, the
factory would fine-tune development and make improvements in the
design to improve its build quality. 1980 cars have all these
improvements. This is a well maintained example. It presents in
excellent condition. This has been a Texan car most of its life so
it is a "dry" and clean example that has had a garaged environment.
As a result, it has been freed from the perils of harsh weather and
is nice and clean underneath. In about 2005 the car underwent a
repaint in the same and original Acrylic white and was/is a good
finish presenting on a very straight and dent free body. Being a
relatively "new" pain-job, there is minimal signs of the usual
"lead-wiping" cracking at the base of the A & C pillars, common on
almost all Silver Shadows. When the car was repainted, a third
level brake light was fitted to the trunk. As a purist, I do not
like these types of modifications but compliments do go to
craftsman who did so as the work was done well. A nice addition, is
the front air-dam which was a factory fitment to all Silver Shadow
IIs for the rest of the world. They finish of the front of these
cars very nicely. Like all our Rolls-Royce motorcars, this Silver
Shadow II is part of our "Predelivery Commissioning" process where
all and any work needed is carried out. Important costly items such
as the hydraulics and brakes are fully inspected and serviced as
required. This includes checking of all brake hoses and system
pressure tested and bled. Brakes pumps rebuilt, new accumulators
fitted, calipers and pads serviced. It is ready to drive and enjoy.
The odometer shows 88,000 miles and although this is not
verifiable, the mileage is commensurate with the condition
(particularly when you look at the condition of the interior,
under-hood, brake pedal etc). In fact, if it should 50,000, you
would believe it. It is very quiet and smooth on the road without
any of the typical "thumps" and "rattles" typical of lesser
maintained examples of this model. All electrics are checked right
down to the smallest and insignificant dash and courtesy light.
Even the clock keeps good time! The interior is completely original
with the Connolly leather never redyed or repaired. It is very true
to its Connolly characteristics showing just the right amount of
patina. The leather really has been lovingly preserved. The cream
piping against the St James Red Connolly really sets it of nicely.
The burr walnut wood throughout the car is also all original. There
are minor hairline cracks on the dash and chips on the front door
cappings where the seatbelt often strikes the finish but nothing
objectionable and, once again, showing a nice degree of gentle-use
patina. Stunning. The burl walnut in this example is very "knotty"
and has a deep and warm brown hue which is truly magnificent. The
head lining is original and in good condition. The original Wilton
wool carpets with leather binding are also in good condition. The
boot (trunk) carpet with the same theme is in excellent condition.
The push button radio has sadly been replaced (we have factory
units available if interested) whilst the CD player in-place of the
cassette player is a welcomed addition. All bright-work to include
mouldings, headlight brows, grill and bumpers are in good
condition. Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has
not been precision detailed but simply kept clean and t
