Vehicle Description
When this 1982 Toyota FJ45 Land Cruiser hit our showroom floor at
Art and Speed, we were blown away by its full restoration from
Toyoda Restaraciones in Venezuela. Completed in 2018, this FJ had a
complete frame-off performed with every nut and bolt new. And the
devil is in the details!
The vibrant Solar Red paint is an original FJ color. Buffed to a
perfect shine, this one is nicer than it would have been from the
factory. To make the red pop even more, the white roof provides a
high contrast along with white "TOYOTA" lettering on the grille and
tailgate. The custom rollbar adds protection and style without
taking away from the classic FJ45 appearance. Custom, black steel
bumpers match the rollbar and make it look extra brutish. We
wouldn't think of taking it off-road, but you can! And if you do,
there is a Dobinsons synthetic rope, remote-controlled electric
winch leading the way out front.
Speaking of Dobinsons, you will find the Australian company was
also used for the suspension, with upgraded leaf springs and
improved gas shocks to give it extra height and strength. Knowing
it has front-disc brakes, steep grades won't worry you on
overcooking the shoes. Should you choose to off-road this pristine
Land Cruiser, you won't have to worry about getting stuck!
During the full-resto, an upgraded electronic ignition was added to
fire-off the numbers-matching, 4.2-liter, inline-six engine, which
was rebuilt and reinstalled. It breathes through an ARB snorkel if
you decide to take it submarining. The four-speed manual shifter
isn't what we'd describe as a performance shifter with a pretty
lengthy throw between gears, but the gearbox pulls well. Putting
the connection to the road is a set of oversized Kapsen 285/75/R16
tires fitted on Red Arrow wheels all around, giving it a more
aggressive stance than when stock. You aren't going to win any
land-speed races with this truck, but hey, it's a 4x4, it's not
supposed to win stoplight races!
The upgrades continue on in the interior, where you will find more
better-than-factory upgrades like a cold, modern R134
air-conditioning system and a Pioneer stereo system. Sitting in
style, your comfort is upgraded with custom leather bucket seats
and door cards. The dash is in stock form, but everything has been
refurbished here, including the OE manufacturer stickers, and
everything is in working order.
From top to bottom, headlight to taillight, the folks at Toyoda did
a fantastic job restoring this beauty. Evidently, it has been
babied since getting a new lease on life; it looks like it just
pulled out of the shop. If you've been thinking about an old Land
Cruiser, this is THE one. It's ready to get in and drive right now,
so come check it out. You won't be disappointed!
