Vehicle Description
What you're looking at is opportunity. This 1979 Chevrolet Malibu
Wagon is your chance to have a classic that can carry the family
and cargo in one vintage vehicle. But while you can justify this
Chevy to your practical side, the enthusiasts in you will instantly
gravitate to the well-built big block, four-wheel disc brakes, and
fully upgraded suspension that make this a true muscle machine. So,
this is the one classic that your practical and passionate sides
can agree on.
This Malibu's angular design is arguably the best-looking wagon of
the era. There are terrific style elements, like the hint of
overhang in the front, well-creased sheetmetal, and bright chrome
bumpers that even have the taillights integrated into the rear
ones. And so a straight and clean example like this may even get
away with a first impression of a well-respected sleeper style. Of
course, that good-guy grocery-getter impression melts away as
people spot the custom maroon paint with a hint of metallic that
loves to catch the sunlight. It starts to tell the tale of
something a bit more custom. And the mirror-like tint on the
windows and bright 17-inch American Racing polished wheels (with
extra meaty rear rubber) are more clues about this true street
machine.
The interior is a well-done package with the right upgrades. The
custom door panels are a sleek black with a cool red streak. The
dash and rear bench are also done in a matching black. The back has
a two-piece tailgate and durable rubber mat inside. So this will be
ideal for loading up the tailgating supplies and enjoying this
Chevy everywhere from the car show to the ballgame. This is built
to be a comfortable driver, so the front seat is finished in a more
comfortable cloth with black trim to coordinate with the rest of
the interior. The classic split bench allows for individual
adjustment, and the folding center armrest gives you bucket-like
comfort. The dash keeps a very stock style. There's even the
factory AM/FM radio and heat/AC controls still in place (they would
need servicing to bring it back online.) It all goes towards the
clean and sleeper style this one likes to give. Of course, the
Grant flat-bottom sports steering wheel and well-integrated
AutoMeter auxiliary gauges remind you there's something special in
the engine bay even before you twist the key and hear it roar.
Lift the hood and immediately be impressed. Chevrolet downsized
this generation of Malibu because the big block era was over, but
this one rectifies that mistake. So you have a lightweight setup
with a thundering 454 cubic-inch V8 heart. It's a tidy and mighty
package that includes an Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and
Edelbrock intake. It's even built with the right supporting
components, like a serpentine belt system, fabricated valve covers,
and an aluminum radiator w/electric fans. The big block fires up
readily while making a terrific tune out of the X-pipe dual
exhaust. The upgraded suspension with tubular front A-arms, sway
bars front & rear, boxed rear control arms, three-speed automatic
transmission, and power steering make this a great all-around
driver. You even have a four-wheel power disc brake upgrade for
superior stopping power.
This is the ideal classic. After all, you'll convince everyone that
you bought a versatile family vehicle with plenty of cargo space.
But really it's the big block power that sold you. Since there are
plenty of people who want to disguise their dream car as a
practical classic, you should hurry and call today!
