Its always nice when survivors like this pop up and become available! This Cherokee 4.0 4×4 is stock and hasn’t been modified, only maintained. With less than 94k miles and an adult owner, you are getting a jeep that is in good shape and not abused. It has always been maintained properly & professionally and driven with care. This Jeep just passed PA emissions and state safety inspections! These jeep 4.0 drivetrains have been known to last over 300k miles!
I will go through the condition of this rare 2 door below:
Exterior: All original and rust free! The 1980s Jeep paint does show signs of age as the clear-coat is pealing in places. Very typical of most late 1980s factory paint. Event though the paint isn’t perfect, it is at least original and we know there is no body work or issues hidden. The sun roof has been siliconed shut. The rest of the exterior is good for its age! All glass, lenses, trim and lights are in good condition.
Interior: Spectacular is the best way to describe it. All original and everything works. Check out the upholstery, dash, door panels and carpet – stunning! The only thing that isn’t super nice inside is the headliner. Because the sunroof could use a new gasket, it leaked just a few times before being siliconed shut. If the new owner chooses to, a new headliner isn’t very expensive. Doing the sun roof gasket and headliner at the same isn’t a big job at all. The upholstery has no rips or tears and isn’t faded. All of the gauges, lights, AC, Heat, radio and power options work as they should! It’s a real time capsule!
Underside: There are no signs of accidents or corrosion beyond surface rust. It actually has less surface rust than some of the newer trucks we see. The floors, frame and everything on the underside is SOLID! There are no noticiable leaks or drips.
Mechanical: Here is where this Jeep really shines! The 4.0 inline 6 is in tip top shape! The automatic transmission shifts firm and nice. The 4×4 system works flawlessly and its no secret, it’s a great off road set up. Even though this one hasn’t been used as a woods machine or off road toy, it could be if you wanted to! The fluids are fresh, brakes just serviced, 4 new tires installed, a new battery installed; its ready to go!
