1954 Studebaker Commander 2 Door Regal Starliner Hardtop 232 2BBL
V8 coupe with an automatic transmission and power steering and
which recently underwent a complete restoration with a two-stage
repaint in the correct 'Ontario Blue over Safford Cream' factory
color (P2521) paint with the interior restored to factory correct
specs in 'Beige' leather with a new headliner with chrome roof bows
and with all the glass replaced and all the chrome re-plated. The
floor boards, trunk and all the typical rust-prone areas are solid
and rust-free.The car looks extremely impressive with a very
striking 'Ontario Blue over Safford Cream' repaint with the 'Tan'
leather interior also having been restored as required in to
original factory specifications throughout with its original
'Studebaker' AM radio, tinted glass, 3.54 axle ratio, amp; power
steering! The dashboard, the headliner with chrome bows, the
carpets and all the leather seats have been restored and are in
exceptional condition throughout and the car has all new chrome!The
car was originally built in Vernon, CA and has the original factory
correct 232 V8 (#V302644) engine which is extremely strong and
powerful and this particular car drives very well - must be driven
to be fully appreciated - a truly remarkable daily driver that will
give any modern day sports car a run for it's money! The car was
recently freeway driven without any issues whatsoever from it's
home in Palm Springs, CA to Torrance, CA, some 120+ miles. The car
was ordered with rare leather upholstery option, power steering and
the 'Starline' 6 tube radio, heater, windshield washer, electric
clock, Hill-holder, hubcaps, full wheel covers, whitewall tires,
deluxe steering wheel, front amp; rear armrests, dual sunvisors,
automatic dome amp; courtesy lights, rear quarter panel stainless
trim amp; full carpeting.The V8 version of the daring and legendary
Raymond Loewy design, with sleek European styling matched by
luxurious interiors and with a radical new design focused on a
streamlined coupe to match Loewy's passion for a light weight and
fuel efficient design which declared a "weight to be the enemy"
approach, whilst the rest of Detroit was still focused on building
much larger and heavier cars as was the fashion of the day. The
Museum of Modern Art recognized the Loewy coupe at it's
introduction as "one of the most beautiful automobiles ever", and
later went as far as to describe the car as a "work of art". The
car will also be sold with a copy of it's build sheet from the
'Studebaker National Museum', original owners manuals, shop manuals
amp; paint chip brochures etc.In summary, this particular example
