THE ART OF GRAYSCALE
The beneficiary of a professional, ground-up restoration that
stripped its solid profile completely bare, this slick F1 is the
product of cool patience and acute craftsmanship. Those skills
shine bright under deep Chrysler Granite Metallic two-stage. And
that pigment provides an excellent base for tight Haartz cloth and
traditional Chevy Rally Stripes. At the front of those stripes, a
strong Rally Sport grille hangs Detroit Speed headlights between a
polished bumper, a shaved header, a familiar Rally Sport valance
and a requisite D80 chin spoiler. At the top of that grille, a
stylish Cowl Induction Hood leads stainless-trimmed glass that's
cleared by polished wipers. At the sides of that hood, F2 mirrors
and traditional door handles join tasteful marker lamps to decorate
tidy panels. And at the back of the car, a second polished bumper
reflects a Rally Sport fuel filler, Rally Sport taillights and a
sporty D80 deck spoiler.
CHEVROLET PERFORMANCE LS3
Gaze into this Camaro's body-matched engine bay and you'll find 6.2
liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet
Performance LS376/480, that factory-engineered crate engine twists
respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 495 horsepower and 473
lb./ft. of torque. At the top of the block, a polished air tube
funnels wind in to a proven GM throttle body, which feeds a
lightweight GM intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port
L92-style heads, which ride under familiar Corvette rail covers. A
nodular crank, powdered connecting rods and hypereutectic pistons
compress that volatile union. A racing-inspired LS Hot Cam
maximizes intake efficiency through better breathing. Speaking of
breathing, the smooth mill funnels spent gases through Hooker
Blackheart headers. There's a polished aluminum radiator that's
slid in front of spry puller fans. Holley serpentine components
spin lucid power steering beneath a modern AC compressor. And
details like Holley mounts, a Holley oil pan and GM engine
management join an Optima battery, a polished master cylinder and
polished Eddie Motorsports hood supports to enhance both this
Chevy's form and function.
BETTER THROUGH TIME
Park this classic on a lift and you'll find solid, Satin Black
floorpans that provide a fitting backdrop for fresh, first rate
hardware. Behind the buff small block, a tough Tremec 6-speed has
been enhanced with Holley mounts, an LS7 clutch and Tick
Performance Level 2 upgrades. That gearbox twists power to a fresh
Ford 9-inch that's built with big, 3.89 gears. Beneath that axle, a
RideTech 4-link employs tubular control arms and Fox
coil-over-shocks. That clip gets led by a RideTech front-half,
which cages tall spindles and a GTA steering box behind a big sway
bar, two more Fox coil-overs and more tubular control arms. At the
corners of that suspension, hydroboosted CPP Big Brake calipers
squeeze a quartet of drilled and slotted rotors. Charred dinosaurs
float from the aforementioned Hooker Blackheart headers into Hooker
Blackheart mufflers, which, along with polished tips and an
X-shaped crossover, are strung in a web of aluminized pipes. And
torque transitions through attractive US Mags Ramblers, which spin
235/40ZR18 BF Goodrich g-Force Sports in front of 255/40ZR18 BF
Goodrich g-Force Sports.
CUSTOM TRIMMINGS
Pop the doors and you'll find a stylish custom interior that
incorporates thoughtful upgrades into a sea of vintage flash. Front
and center, heavily bolstered TMI buckets join a recovered GM
bench. In front of those seats, a TMI-capped dash stretches leather
and suede across Vintage Air conditioning, New Vintage USA
telemetry and modern Pioneer audio. Below that dash, a full-length
TMI console frames a short shifter. Premium carpet traces a billet
accelerator pedal on its way to sculpted TMI side panels, which
trace billet cranks and handles. And in front of the driver, a
monochromatic Momo Tuner wheel laps a tilting column.
This thoroughly massaged Chevy is one of the coolest cruisers on
the planet! As it sits, the car offers the best of both worlds: a
fully restored classic, and a sweet muscle car that's virtually
