NO COMPROMISE
There's a lot to like about a 1960 Corvette, and definitely a lot
to like about this 1960 Corvette resto-mod! Enjoyed by the same
enthusiast for 41 of its 60 years, this slick C1 is the product of
a body-off, nut-and-bolt restoration that's seen scant miles
outside of a garage. Blemish-free surfaces reflect a glossy coat of
era-correct Honduras Maroon two-stage. At the front of that
pigment, re-plated bumpers locate a restoration-fresh grille
between a translucent roundel and stainless-trimmed lighting.
Stainless-capped fenders lead the eye to re-plated pillars, which
join original frames to tilt restoration-fresh glass between a
factory mirror, polished wipers and a factory hardtop. A sinuous
profile slides monochromatic coves between polished fins, polished
handles and familiar Corvette fender emblems. And at the back of
the car, more re-plated bumpers frame a short antenna, factory
taillights and a second classy roundel.
FUEL INJECTION... AND SO MUCH MORE!
Pop this Vette's sculpted hood and you'll find 6.2 liters of 21st
Century small block that, like the car's restoration, is fully
sorted and ready to roll. One of the most well rounded powerplants
GM has ever offered, Chevrolet's proven LS3 utilizes aluminum
construction, L92-style heads and a smooth hydraulic roller to mix
miles of thrills with years of reliable cruising. And, churning
stout 10.7 to 1 compression into 430 horsepower and 425 lb./ft. of
torque, the easy-revving mill is certainly no slouch in the
performance department! Trick Corvette fuel rail covers complement
a bright air tube. Factory serpentine components spin a factory
alternator opposite a factory AC compressor. There's a polished Be
Cool radiator that's fitted with a big puller fan. A polished
master cylinder complements a modern brake booster. Pliable AC
Delco plug wires join a fresh ECU and coated exhaust manifolds to
detail an otherwise purpose-built performer. And everything rides
in a clean, Honduras Maroon engine bay.
NOTHING RETRO ABOUT IT!
Park this roadster on a lift and you'll find a sturdy Corvette
Correction chassis that makes excellent use of a full
fourth-generation Corvette suspension. Those bones, lovingly
supplemented with composite mono leafs, cage a tough Tremec
6-speed. That gearbox deals power to a spry Dana 44 differential
which, according to the car's owner, spins fun, 3.45 gears. Turns
come courtesy of modern power rack-and-pinion steering. Smooth and
solid stops are provided by fourth-generation Corvette discs. Spent
gases traverse custom exhaust, which centers an X-pipe crossover in
front of rowdy Magnaflow mufflers. And torque meets the pavement
through chromed, sixth-generation Corvette-style blades, which spin
245/45ZR18 Michelin Pilot Sports in front of 255/45ZR18 Michelin
Pilot Sports.

Most enthusiasts buy sports cars for the thrill of driving, not the
thrill of napping in an overly plush interior that's made of memory
