Vehicle Description
Here is a really stunning looking Continental R finished in British
Racing Green with 2-tone rich tan Connolly hides with deep green
(Spruce green) accents (dash, console and steering wheel). This
Continental R is in superb condition with 54,000 odd miles. Her
condition is lovely throughout. The Bentley Continental R is
powered by a 6.75 litre Rolls-Royce designed V8 engine with the
Bosch fuel injection system and Garret Turbo-charger. Exuding in
excess of 325 horsepower it pumped out over 500 foot pounds of
torque. So she is quite spritely indeed and, quoting Modern Car's
review upon its release; "such is the power of this 2.5 ton
behemoth, when you power down streets in Sussex, she blows leaves
off trees in Kent!". It has the look and a true behemoth it is!
With the British Racing Green and completely colour-coded bumpers,
this is indeed a handsome beast. 1992 also saw the introduction of
the first new gearbox in some 24 years. Previously all Bentley and
Rolls-Royces were 3 speed automatics but in this year model was
introduced the GM 4L80-E four-speed automatic gearbox. This is a
"real" Bentley when they were an integral part of Rolls-Royce;
built side-by-side Rolls-Royces using Rolls-Royce parts,
Rolls-Royce engineering, Rolls-Royce manufacturing and craftsman,
all on the same factory production line which made Crewe famous for
everything and anything Rolls-Royce AND Bentley. (See Wikipedia
link: Crewe factory) This one is a well maintained example with a
good clean Auto-Check report with no accidents or issues. She was a
2-owner, not 3 as shown in the history report. Records show very
regular and uncompromised maintenance by Steve Foley Bentley. This
car shows all the hallmarks of a well-cared for example in this
regard. Under the bonnet, the presentation is amazing. It has not
been precision detailed but simply kept clean and tidy throughout
its life. The body of the car is straight and the paint deep in
lustre and consistency. Upon walking around the car, it is hard to
find any concerning blemishes and marks but for one small
indentation in the right rear quarter-ette. This is not seriously
noticeable but also an easy repair which we can do for you if your
desire. The paint is very shiny without any fading, dents or dings
and certainly presents beautifully for show and general driver use.
Rubbers, mouldings, badges and external fittings are all in good
condition. The interior on this car is simply stunning. The
Connolly leather shows beautifully and is very original. It has
never been re-dyed or messed with and yet remains super-soft and
supple without any signs of wear. The wood throughout is excellent
and all original showing virtually no marks. Carpets, seats, dash,
headlining and fixtures are truly excellent and I best encourage
you to look at all the photos to fully appreciate how nicely the
interior presents. There are close-up photographs of the controls
and these look like new. It does have an after-market stereo system
which we are not fans of, but with that comes all the modern
benefits of blue-tooth, hands free telephone access and auxiliary
inputs. The car comes fitted with its original factory fitment
lambswool moutons. Interesting, is it its "when-new" phone cradle
mount in the boot. As part of Park-Ward's maintenance program, all
electricals and features & functions are inspected so everything is
operating as it should; windows, seats, mirrors, A/C, heater,
lights, wipers, etc. Right down to every light bulb in the dash.
This is a true, "take the keys and drive" example with no
additional budget needed to attend to any nuances or gremlins. This
is clearly a car that has been owned by conscientious (and
wealthy!) private collector type owners, so it has all the signs of
a well-maintained example. It is tight to drive, powerful to drive,
brakes strong and rides as a Bentley should. The car is of very
high standard and is an easy 10 out of 10 driver rating.
