1953 CHEVROLET BEL AIR SPORT COUPE C-826 This 1953 Chevrolet Bel
Air sport coupe was in the previous owner's extended family for
more than 12 years. It has undergone a body-off refurbishment that
was completed in 2018 and saw the car refinished in beige with a
brown hardtop over a beige and brown vinyl interior. Power is
provided by a 235ci valve-in-head inline-six mated to a
column-shifted three-speed manual transmission, and equipment
includes an exterior sun visor, a heater/defroster, a push-button
AM radio, and a stem-wound clock. The hardtop body has been
refinished in beige with a brown roof and features an exterior sun
visor, fender skirts, and quarter-panel spear trim moldings with
painted accents. Brightwork includes a three-tooth grille, bumpers
with overriders, rocker and body-side moldings, gravel guards,
window surrounds, and headlight/taillight trim. Color-keyed 15 inch
steel wheels are fitted with full chrome covers and BFGoodrich
Silvertown whitewall tires. Braking is provided by 11 inch
hydraulic drums all around. The interior features a center-fold
bench front seat reupholstered in beige vinyl with brown-checked
cloth inserts, color-coordinated two-tone door panels, brown
carpets, and exposed chrome headliner bows. The factory two-spoke
steering wheel features a full horn ring and fronts a two-tone
body-color steel dashboard with a round 110-mph speedometer and
horizontal gauges for temperature, fuel level, battery charge, and
oil pressure. Decorative chrome grilles adorn the ashtray, speaker,
and glovebox. Amenities include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a
heater/defroster, a push-button AM radio, and a stem-wound clock.
The five-digit odometer shows just under 46k miles. The 235ci
Thrift-King inline-six came equipped with a Rochester B one-barrel
carburetor and was rated at 108 horsepower and 200 lb-ft of torque
when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a column-shifted
three-speed manual transmission with an unsynchronized first gear.
