Vehicle Description
The COPO Camaro is a true legend where low-option lighter-weight
cars were snuck out the "back door" with the largest V8 around.
What resulted is arguably the fastest, nastiest, and most treasured
muscle car of them all. But of you get nervous driving a car worth
more than a mansion, this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro COPO tribute is a
great way to feel the rush of the best all-out Chevy muscle
machine.
Red is always a great color for a speedy classic. And before the
first drop of bold color went down on the body, they made sure that
the body panels were super-straight with doors that close with
better confidence than new. The modern luster combined with great
sheetmetal gives this coupe an attention-getting finish no matter
if it's going down the road or parked at a cruise-in. There's no SS
badges and no RS headlights; just a base Camaro coupe right down to
the painted steel wheels with dog dish hubcaps. These were cars
that let its special motor do all its talking, and that kind of
substance is something we all love to see. Even the cowl induction
hood is doing its part to feed the beast within. The front chin
spoiler and mirror-like bumpers are pieces that you don't
necessarily need for speed, but on a well-sorted coupe like this,
they sure do make going fast look good.
The interior has the same nicely restored and down-to-business
focus. The bucket seats look and feel fresh, and the same goes for
the headliner, door panels, carpeting, and dash pad. This sea of
black is broken up by the Hurst performance shifter with a cool red
topper (it goes with the Camaro lettering in the carpeting.)
Everything is finished to an extremely high level, and so nothing
looks out of place. You even have a modern AM/FM digital tuner
disguised as the classic Delco radio. The front bucket seats, Chevy
three-spoke sports steering, large speedo & tach, and auxiliary
gauges are all part of a driver-focused package designed to let you
harness the beast under the hood.
The COPO's calling card was the thundering 427, but this big block
is actually the even LARGER 454 cubic-inch V8. The presentation is
amazing with the shiny valve covers, Chevy orange block, and tidy
wires & hoses. And yes, you see the correct gasket around the air
cleaner to mate with the cowl hood. It helps deliver cooler fresh
air to the Holley four-barrel carburetor and GM winters intake. It
thunders to life with the kind of authority that makes lesser cars
quiver, and the Muncie four-speed manual transmission gives you
full control over the power and high-octane soundtrack. As you look
underneath the car, you'll spot more of the build overall
freshness. Plus, you'll see all the right pieces you want in a
vintage muscle machine, like front disc brakes, subframe
connectors, and a 12-bolt Positraction rear end. It makes for a
powerful build that also has a solid/confident feeling on the road.
Plus, features like power steering and power brakes are great no
matter if you're blasting down the boulevard or just cruising the
cruise-in.
Power and poise come in a bold red tribute to one of the baddest
Camaros around. And in a package this fresh, you know this is an
irresistible COPO tribute. Call today!!!
