Vehicle Description
There a very few things that make Mustang lovers more excited than
seeing a first-gen K-code car. It harnesses a powerhouse that was
directly related to the HiPo 289 V8s that took home the trophies
around the globe. So that's why we know you stopped to take a look
at this 1966 Ford Mustang GT K-code. It's a comprehensively
restored example that has a very correct look and some exciting
documentation - and it all makes this exceptional coupe in its own
league of extraordinary.
This coupe has been re-finished in 1966-correct Signal Flare Red,
and so it has the instant appeal of a cherry red icon with some
added luster from an upgrade later in life. Bodywork is excellent
with straight panels and good alignment throughout, which means you
can shut the doors with confidence. The brightwork is complete and
straight on everything from the mirror-like chrome bumpers to the
special HiPo 289 fender badges. This has all the right indicators
of being a true GT car. So it shows off the best features with the
fog lights in the grille, triple rocker stripe, proper GT badging,
and the trumpeted dual exhaust mounted through the rear valance.
And a terrific touch to the styled steel wheels are the double
redline tires that coordinate with the paint.
Another great coordinating piece is how the rocker stripe is a
preview of the full black interior. You can tell there have been
some nice investments here to deliver the classic Mustang
experience. That's why you have a smooth dash, clean door panels, a
taut headliner, plush carpeting, and bucket seats with comfort text
inserts. It really has a period-correct feel, right down to the
working AM radio. And you'll love how the trunk has everything from
the correct mat to a double-redline spare tire. And this GT is a
true driver's machine. That's why there's the desirable Rally-Pac
tach and clock combo just ahead of the thin/grippy sports steering
wheel.
Under the hood is a clean and tidy engine bay with the big bright
air topper in the middle announcing this is the special high
performance 289 V8. The restoration took time to give you the best
details. So you not only get the bold Ford blue on the block and
clean inner fender, but this also give you the little things like
the correct washer fluid bag and Ford hoses. In fact, this has all
the correct indicators to being a highly correct and original
coupe. Not only does it have the correct GT details, but we have
photographs showing the numbers-matching motor during the
restoration. So while it is currently unverified, this shows the
right signs of retaining the numbers-matching K-code motor! It
inhales deeply with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, and the H-pipe
dual exhaust gives it a great V8 tune. As you look underneath the
car, it has the clean quality to give you confidence on the road.
Plus, the three-speed automatic transmission and front disc brakes
make this performance coupe a fine cruiser, too.
Collectors know a K-code Mustang is in the one-percent rarity range
of total production, and the figure is even smaller when looking at
an automatic example. When you have something this unique, you also
want the best paperwork. That's why this comes with the original
warranty card, owner's manual, and title documentation. So if you
like both elite and powerful classics, you know you can't let this
special pony slip away. Call now!
