Ford Thunderbird Ford was ultimately compelled into the two-seater
sports-car craze by the Corvette. The Thunderbird was the perfect
car to compete in the newly created two-seater marketplace. Sold to
the American buyer as an upscale personal sports car, this sporty
new convertible was designed to be comfortable and convenient with
an emphasis on luxury. The Thunderbird became a wildly instant
success and outsold the Corvette by a shocking 23-to-1 ratio in its
amazing first production year. This '57 Thunderbird is a
culmination of everything learned over three years of producing
Ford two-seaters, and it presents in absolutely stunning fashion.
The example offered here for sale was built on January 25th, 1957
sold new in San Jose, California. The car has benefited from a
previous frame off restoration and presented in Torch Red exterior
paint, complemented by a Colonial White interior and White porthole
hardtop. Under the hood, is the optional D-code 312 cu in V8 engine
with optional Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. This beautiful
car also features many factory options sought after on early
Thunderbirds including thunderbird engine dress up kit, rear fender
skirts, town and country radio, four way power seat, power windows,
power steering, heater delete, padded dash, porthole hardtop,
windshield washers and tonneau cover. To finish off the nicely
restored car is a set of full wheel covers with new wide white wall
bias ply tires. This Thunderbird is finished in a timeless and
extremely collectible color combination, sure to grab some
attention on the road. It also comes documented with restoration
