The KRs were GT500s shipped from Ford in enclosed trailers to
Shelby Automobiles in Vegas. At an additional cost of $35,665 the
upgrades were installed by Shelby. All other Shelbys were built by
Ford. The fact it is a Shelby built car makes it extremely
collectible now and especially in the future. Only 1,011 were made
total, only 328 were black.
EXTERIOR: Items installed by Shelby include the "over the top
stripes" and rear spoiler. They also installed a lightweight carbon
fiber hood with functional air induction and extraction scoops. KRs
also received carbon fiber mirror covers, or "mirror skulls" as
Shelby calls them, and carbon fiber front spoiler. The 18 inch
forged polished aluminum wheels are unique to a KR with performance
Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. Other features unique to the KR is satin
finish hood locks, KR fender and grill emblems and unique Shelby
hood and trunk letter kit. Other features installed by Ford are HID
headlamps ($525), keyless entry, fog lamps and rocker moldings. The
body looks pristine, no damage or dents. The original paint still
shows like new. It does have tiny rock chips down low.
INTERIOR: This immaculate interior offers luxury and sportiness. It
has the optional premium trim package. It has all the power
accessories, cruise control, tilt, leather etc. KR features include
embroidered headrests on the Cobra sport seats, Ford Racing short
throw shifter with white ball and a Shelby numbered plaque
displayed proudly on the dash. Optional features installed by Ford
include the Navigation package ($1,995), satellite stereo ($195)
and ambient lighting ($295). It also has a set of Weather Tech
mats. It is in excellent condition from carpet to headliner. It has
the Shelby owners pouch in the glove box with the manuals.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: High performance 5.4 L supercharged engine
makes 540 horsepower-510 lbs of torque. It was heavily influenced
by Ford's first GT supercar. It has a cast iron block with aluminum
heads, forged internals and dual overhead cams. This torque monster
makes great power, yet it has great efficiency and a docile nature
if so desired. The KR features include 40 hp more then a GT 500, a
Ford Racing cold air kit, Pro Cal performance calibration, machined
billet engine fluid caps with KR logos, KR plaque and strut tower
brace. The SVT hand built engine has a plaque with the signatures
of the people that built it.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Opens with remote. Immaculate carpeted area.
There are some extras included: A large framed picture, Marti
report, window sticker and Shelby certificate are framed. There is
also a Shelby plate and GT500KR frame.
UNDERSIDE: It has a throaty rumble through the Ford Racing H pipe,
Ford Racing mufflers with polished tips. KR features an SVT tuned
chassis including performance springs, struts, shocks and stiffer
sway bars. Power is delivered through a Tremec TR6060 6-speed trans
and a limited slip 3.73 axle ratio in the back. Brembo disc brakes
in front with cooling ducts, Ford disc in back. The rack and pinion
steering is smooth and effortless. Ford features include ABS and
traction control systems. Underneath the car is still close to new
looking, it has factory stickers and paint markings on the
different components.
