from Choo Choo Customs is this 1987 Chevrolet El Camino Choo Choo
SS trim package. Sources indicate only 861 Elcos were built with
the Choo Choo SS trim package for the model year. Exterior is
finished in black with an aero Monte Carlo SS style front bumper
cover, custom graphics, and grey cloth interior. Push the
accelerator and the 350 cubic inch Small Block Chevy comes to life
with the 3 speed automatic shifting smoothly through all gears.
Performance upgrades include a Holley 670 CFM Street Avenger 4
barrel electric choke carb, Edelbrock Performer Intake, MSD Blaster
SS Ignition, and headers. The factory 305ci V8 was removed and a
350ci V8 installed with power sent to the rear wheels through a
Turbo-Hydramatic three-speed automatic transmission and a factory
rear differential.Recent maintenance is said to have included an
oil change, fuel pump, and AC belt. The trim package, available
from 1983 to 1987 and installed by Choo Choo Customs in
Chattanooga, Tennessee, added an SS-style aero front bumper, a faux
cowl-induction hood, and unique graphics on the doors and tailgate.
15? rally wheels wear new center caps and Futura GLS 215/65R15
front and 255/60R15 rear tires. Front power disc brakes were
standard equipment. Other options include power locks, power
windows, air conditioning, tilt wheel, cruise control, and power
mirrors. The interior is trimmed in gray cloth with matching carpets
and door panels. The AC Delco radio has been removed and replaced
with a JVC CD Player. Factory instrumentation includes an 85-mph
speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level,
battery voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The
five-digit odometer shows 82300 miles and is believed to have
rolled over once. Aftermarket gauges include Sport Comp tach, water
temp and oil pressure.
