1960 Desoto Adventurer
Car History
The DeSoto Adventurer was an automobile that was produced by DeSoto
from 1956 through the 1960 model year. The Adventurer name first
started out a four-seat high performance sports coupe concept car,
but then was changed to be DeSoto's special, limited-production,
high-performance model similar to the Chrysler 300.
Our 1960 DeSoto Adventurer we have here at Adventure Classics is
not only rare but is restored with over $30K in receipts and took
about 5 years of meticulous professional work too.
Engine & Drivetrain
The Desoto has an original balanced & dynode Mopar 383 cubic inch
engine showing over 300 horsepower with its 10.1 compression ratio,
and backed by a Push Button Torqueflight automatic transmission and
was rebuilt and updated and includes many upgraded performance
parts like the Holly Sniper EFI Fuel injection Hyperspark #550-511,
MSD distributor, American Auto Power Plus wiring Harness, 4-barrel
Edelbrock Intake, Mopar Heavy duty water pump, 95 Amp Power Master
Alternator, GEN IV Vintage A/C system with new style Compressor and
R134a refrigerant, black DeSoto valve covers, chrome open-air
cleaner assembly, cast iron exhaust headers, dual exhaust, and
performance spark plug wire set.
Other important changes include dual electric fans, 3-core Mopar
radiator, power steering, new style Mopar brake booster and master
cylinder, front Disc Brakes and new rear brake drums, bearings, and
shoes, new style washer pump and reservoir, rebuilt original "S"
type rear end, new gas tank, and rides on 17" chrome 5-spoke mag
wheels with a matching spare and blackwall performance tires.
Interior
The all new interior features front and rear matching bench seats
wrapped in original red and white vinyl upholstery, all new carpets
including matching floormats, new seat belts, new headliner, an
AM/FM/CD stereo radio system with dual 200 watt USB, Bluetooth, and
all new speakers.
And oh what a dash! Gauges, lights, factory sport steering wheel,
push buttons, gleaming chrome, with gold, red, and black colors
everywhere, it really looks amazing.
Exterior
This is a very rare car made by Chrysler with only 3092 every made
and it only had about 50,000 original miles before restoration. It
has a deep black paint job with the white painted top contrasting
it, a gold trim package and chrome trim on the flanks and the long
iconic side fins, great chrome bumpers, dual exterior mirrors, and
dual power radio antennas. It really makes a statement.

The 1960 Desoto Adventurer we have here at Adventure Classics is a
