Vehicle Description
The great thing about classics like this super cool F150 is their
enlightened charm. They're essentially the automotive equivalent to
Postmodern art: clean, classy and so relatable that they're pretty
much timeless. Gone was the centennial focus on tribal flamboyance,
yet, at the same time, that era's focus on quality and detail was
still fully intact. And that's why, like Postmodern design, old
school pickups are more in demand than ever! When it comes to
something that's in demand, it's a wise choice to find the very
best. And that's where this Ford begins to really excel. For
starters, it's benefitted from a body-off, nut-and-bolt
restoration. It features an impressive 460/3-speed drivetrain that
cruises well and sounds killer. And it's been upgraded with
niceties like modern air conditioning, modern audio and custom
Ultraleather trim. Looking for an acutely restored truck that's
ready to work or play? You've found your next classic!
THE CADILLAC OF F150S
Owned by the same enthusiast for the past 30 years, this familiar
Ford recently benefitted from a body-off, nut-and-bolt restoration
that stripped all its panels all the way down to bare metal. Once
that metal was massaged and mended, classy Cadillac Light Gray Fern
Metallic two-stage was laid under a collection of well-placed
details. At the front of those digs, a guarded bumper reflects a
polished grille, which centers discrete fog lamps between clean
headlights, bright parking lamps and bold "F O R D" lettering. At
the top of that grille, an "EXPLORER" branded hood leads the eye to
pristine glass, which floats a sliding rear window between bright
drip rails, matte wipers, retro ventshades and satin mirrors. At
the sides of that glass, a tough profile parallels fresh Ranger XLT
trim with satin door handles, a factory tool box and tough CARR
steps. Behind that box, a tricked out bed layers Xtreme spray-on
liner beneath a diamond plate tonneau. And at the back of the
truck, a polished Step Bumper seats small towing lamps between a
tough hitch, simple taillights and a fancy, Ford-branded
tailgate.
FORD 460
Hoist the hood and you'll find 460 cubic inches of storied Ford
power that's been professionally rebuilt, fully detailed and,
according to the truck's owner, produces right at 550 horsepower!
At the top of the big mill, wind seeps through a polished Holley
air cleaner into a Lokar-controlled Holley 4-pot, which is
sequenced to dual tanks via braided fluid lines. A resulting
air/fuel mixture makes its way from an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake
to Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, which hide under a slick pair of
Ford Racing valve covers. When those heads flood the engine's
cylinder banks, hot MSD 6A ignition sparks a proven MSD Pro-Billet
distributor, which jostles fire between an MSD Blaster 3 coil and
loomed MEGAFIRE Performance Wires. Spent gases are jettisoned
through coated Hooker Super Competition tubes. A quality March
serpentine drive spins a polished alternator opposite a polished AC
compressor. The big engine's cooling is provided by a deep aluminum
radiator that's seated in front of corrugated hoses and Derale
puller fans. And overall, the truck's sedate, Satin Black engine
bay is exceptionally well done, featuring accessories like a
polished breather, polished fluid reservoirs, coated hood hinges, a
handy fire extinguisher and a polished master cylinder.
LIFTED LIFE
Naturally, that clean, road-ready mill precedes a clean, road-ready
chassis. Everything starts with a sturdy, factory-spec frame that
was soda-blasted bare during the truck's extensive restoration.
Behind the 460, a reliable C6 3-speed, rebuilt with a sturdy shift
kit, spins a limited-slip axle that's finished with road-ready
gears. That axle pushes a fully rebuilt suspension that's been
lifted three inches. Factory-style power steering makes parking
easy and turns a cinch. Stops are provided by hydroboosted discs
and drums. The aforementioned headers feed coated, 3-inch pipes,
which are wired through tough Flowmaster 50 Series mufflers. And
power meets the pavement through polished Robby Gordon beadlocks,
which twist 315/70R17 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZs around manual Warn
hubs.
A TOUCH OF CUSTOM
When you pop this pickup's doors, you'll find a comfortable cockpit
that, in traditional truck fashion, features tastefully
conservative aesthetics. Front and center, an ornate dash, complete
with attractive Ranger trim, stretches stitched Ultraleather skin
over updated telemetry, modern Kenwood audio and controls for
Vintage Air conditioning. Opposite that ledge, an Ultraleather
bench complements customized Ultraleather door panels. That throne
floats between custom, Ford-branded visors and thick, Ford-branded
mats. And the driver traces turns through a Flaming River Waterfall
steering wheel, which laps a tilting Flaming River column.
Fully restored, thoughtfully upgraded and ready to roll, this sweet
F150 is both cool and exclusive. Wrapping proven Ford power in a
buff lift and charming style, it's a timeless American icon that's
ready to own the street and steal the show. Call, click or visit
