The Oldsmobile Toronado had a distinctive styling change from the
first generation Toronados. The former GT design was turned into a
luxury car more similar to the Cadillac Eldorado and the Buick
Rivera. This new look attracted so many new buyers that sales
increased quite a bit. The Toronado now sported an elegant look
with lots of spirit. Upscale styling and powerful performance now
went hand in hand. In 1972, due to Federally mandated and more
strict emission controls, the 455 CID engine was now dropped to a
250 HP. But that does not hurt the car performance wise. This 1972
Oldsmobile Toronado Brougham is quite a collector car. It is an
outstanding HPOF (Historical Preservation Original Features) Award
Winner. You will not find many authentic, unmolested, original
classic cars such as this. This Olds has only 50,000 original
miles. Exterior is Sierra Gold with a white vinyl top. The paint,
the vinyl top, and the chrome and trim are all in excellent
condition. Tires are new Cokers with a 1.5 inch white trim. The
Brougham interior features a soft beige vinyl that is very
luxurious and designed in a hand buttoned tufted style with both
front and rear center folding armrests. The interior is in
excellent condition. America was always in love with the Rocket V8
engine (original to this car) with its 455 CID/250 HP. The
automatic Hydra-Matic transmission is also original. This car is of
course, matching numbers. Features and accessories include power
disc/drum brakes, power steering, dual exhaust, flow through
ventilation, remote control outside mirror, front seat head
restraints, electric clock, power windows, power door locks, tilt
and telescopic steering wheel, power front seats, cruise control,
automatic head lamp control.. this car is loaded with options! This
is a great collector car, especially a rare one as Oldsmobile no
longer is in production, and, only 48,900 models for the 1972 year
were produced. Car resides in South Carolina and it is available to
serious buyers for viewing by appointment. Owner will consider
trades, especially for a late 1960-early 1970's Mustang
convertible.
