Vehicle Description
If you clicked this listing, we don't need to sell you on the
virtues of the second-generation Corvette. You already know it's an
attractive, comfortable, quick and all-around cool classic. In
fact, it's one of the most popular collector cars of all time. That
said, falling for a C2 is easy. The difficult part is finding a
unique, well-restored car that'll keep you happy for years to come.
Luckily, your friends at RK Motors Charlotte have a real knack for
finding standout builds. And this incredible Sting Ray, wrapping a
Chevrolet Performance LS3 in top-notch customization, is about as
standout as it gets. So, if the mako bug has bitten you, take a
closer look at this killer bowtie!
CORVETTE WITH A DASH OF CUSTOM
The beneficiary of a detailed, ground-up restoration that was
completed roughly 200 miles ago, this classy cruiser was entirely
disassembled and carefully stripped of its dull, original pigment.
Once that prep was complete, an incredibly straight fuselage was
tweaked to better-than-factory alignment and blanketed in clean GM
two-stage. That silver pigment was lovingly detailed with a
sinister Stinger Stripe. And today, This Chevy rolls with enough
style to challenge pretty much anything at the show!
There's no question that the second-generation Corvette is one of
the best-looking sports cars of all time. At the front of this
Vette, a requisite cross-flag emblem shades polished bumpers, a
stainless-trimmed grille and amber parking lamps. A stylish Stinger
Hood fronts stainless-trimmed glass that's capped in tight cloth
and cleared by muted wipers. At the sides of that hood, a
black-trimmed profile frames polished handles, subtle louvers and a
familiar bowtie mirror. And that mirror reflects two more polished
bumpers, which frame factory taillights, polished tag trim, a
prominent Sting Ray emblem and a color-keyed fuel filler.
PERFORMANCE BY CHEVROLET
Gaze upon this Chevy's body-matched engine bay and you'll find 6.2
liters of small block fury! Officially known as the Chevrolet
Performance LS3, that factory-engineered crate engine twists
respectable 10.7 to 1 compression into 430 horsepower and 425
lb./ft. of torque. At the top of the block, a glossy air tube
funnels wind into a proven GM throttle body, which feeds a
lightweight GM intake. That air meets spark in rectangular-port
L92-style heads, which hide smooth roller rockers under color-keyed
Corvette fuel rail covers. A nodular crank, powdered connecting
rods and hypereutectic pistons compress that volatile union. A
proven hydraulic roller cam maximizes intake efficiency. Speaking
of efficiency, the smooth mill funnels spent gases through familiar
GM manifolds. There's a lightweight DeWitts radiator that's slid in
front of spry SPAL puller fans. Polished Street & Performance
serpentine components spin a polished alternator opposite a
polished AC compressor. And AC Delco plug wires and a hot Optima
battery join polished reservoirs and a trusty Wilwood master
cylinder to detail otherwise purpose-built performance.
RESTO-ED AND MODDED
Take a gander under this cool drop-top and you'll find a tough
tubular chassis that mixes new age athleticism with old school
durability. A proven Tremec 5-speed, engaged by an easy hydraulic
clutch, spins power to a requisite posi-traction differential
that's packed with big, 3.73 gears. Those gears push a sporty
fourth-generation Corvette rear-clip, which is finished with Vette
Brakes & Products Smart Struts. Opposite that clip, a
fourth-generation Corvette front-half features power
rack-and-pinion steering. Stopping is a cinch thanks to red C4
calipers and 13-inch drilled and slotted rotors. Fossils are
sourced through a Rick's Stainless tank. Shimmering side-pipes
provide a glorious, all-American soundtrack. And torque melts the
pavement through chromed, ZR1-style wheels, which spin 275/35ZR18
Hankook Ventus.
TRADITIONAL WITH A DASH OF NEW
Open the car's light doors and you'll find a tastefully customized
interior that's stylish and very livable. There's a duo of leather
buckets that feature comfy headrests. In front of those thrones, a
stylish dual-cowl dash hangs factory telemetry over hardware for
Vintage Air conditioning and a discreet Antique Automobile Radio.
At the bottom of that dash, a shallow console frames a booted
shifter. And the driver spins an attractive, wood-look steering
wheel around a tilting Flaming River column.
Featuring proven Chevrolet power, this Corvette is a blast to
drive, and it certainly has no trouble turning heads just sitting
still. The car's fresh looks and virtually limitless performance
honor the late '60s Americana we all know and love. At the same
time, custom flair and modern build prowess make it an amazing
place to log countless weekend miles. Don't miss your chance to own
a standout Sting Ray that'll keep people gawking for years to
come!
