For Sale: 1955 Ford Fairlane in MANITOWOC, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

This vehicle is being sold via auction ending Monday 11-30-20!

This is an absolute one-of-a-kind road racer.  It combines a genuine 1955 Ford Fairlane body with a NASCAR style chassis, creating the most outrageous car you will ever see at the track!  But do not be fooled into thinking this is just some showpiece; this is a very real, very capable race car that weighs just under 3,200 pounds and has only one race weekend on a fresh rebuild.

This car was originally completed eight years ago by combining a Hooters Pro Cup chassis with a 1955 Ford Fairlane.  The chassis was lengthened and the body widened to bring everything together.  But to take it a step further, this amazing machine just underwent a 14-month rebuild completed in September 2020.  Cosmetically the car was sanded down and received a host of body repairs and welding improvements.  It was then painted with 1955 Ford colors of Snowshoe White and Banner Blue.  This was followed with hand lettering for all the graphics to give an excellent period look.

Mechanical work was extensive.  The frame was modified in several places for better strength and performance.  Brakes, steering, and suspension were all gone through with component repair or replacement as needed.  The ignition was replaced and the car rewired.  The Roush Yates D3 NASCAR engine was rebuilt by Motor Masters where it made 806hp on the dyno, while the Jerico 4-speed transmission was also rebuilt and has four usable racing gears.  Other mechanical highlights include a NASCAR style 9” rear end with 4.11 gears, Martinsville brakes that are fully ducted with cooling fans, Penske shocks, and 15 x 10” Aero wheels.  The car presently has one-cycle Martinsville left side tires all around – the preferred setup for road racing.  An extra set of wheels and tires are also included.

The cockpit is just like you’d see in NASCAR.  There is a full containment seat, window net, and new belts as of September 2020.  A switch panel can be found on driver’s left with ignition, starter, engine fan, brake fan, cool-shirt, and helmet blower switches all within easy reach.  The Wilwood pedals and master cylinder setup provides great feel while a proportioning dial, kill switch, and fire suppression handle can be found on driver’s right.

Upon completion of the rebuild, the car was fully prepared by Valu Pro Motorsports and then competed at Road America's 4-mile road course during the VSCDA Vintage Festival (September 18-20).  It turned a 2:21 lap and finished 12th of 35 competitors in the weekend's Group 9 sprint race while topping 170mph on the main straight - not bad for a shakedown weekend!

This car looks amazing just sitting still, but to see it in motion is the real treat.  It can be hard to reconcile the sight and sound of a 1955 body doing such amazing things on a race rack.  But all the performance aside, you will never see a car bring out as many smiles and cameras as this one.
