simple three-word statement pretty accurately captures the essence
of what a Shelby badge is intended to communicate. As it relates to
the 2012 Shelby GT500 SVT Mustang, Motor Trend's review suggests
this car is a righteous expression of Mr. Shelby's love: With its
550 hp supercharged 5.4-liter V-8, the Shelby GT500 is certainly
the most powerful Mustang on the block. The magazine went on to
proclaim the moment in automotive history: The reigning pony car
king takes another step forward. Since every Shelby car is a
performance-oriented machine, these details of this tell the
tale:The Mustang Shelby GT500 is powered by a 5.4-liter
supercharged V-8 producing 550 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. Combined
with the six-speed manual transmission, the V-8 pushes the Mustang
Shelby GT500 from a standstill to 60 mph in a (traction-limited)
4.1 seconds. The quarter mile comes quickly too, with the Shelby
GT500 taking 12.4 seconds at 115.8 mph. Coming to a dead stop from
60 mph takes the Mustang Shelby GT500 just 103 feet. (Motor Trend)
Offered here is a low-mileage, properly maintained, SVT-optioned
GT500 in classic Shelby white, with twin center-line-oriented red
racing stripes running the full length of the car. Showing total
mileage under 15,000, or fewer than 1,900 miles per-year on
average, its overall outstanding condition reflects proper care and
maintenance by its two owners. The exterior paint is without
obvious flaws and displays uniform, original factory gloss across
the car. Panel gaps are also true to factory tolerances. The twin
red racing stripes as well as the GT500 side stripes are uniform
throughout. All Shelby and snake emblems are in place and in as-new
condition. Cabin glass and lighting lenses are clear and un-marred.
The SVT-identified multi-spoke forged aluminum wheels (19-inch in
front and 20-inch in back giving the car its slight forward-angled
rake) and Firestone high-performance tires are similarly free of
damage or signs of wear. Seen from any angle-but especially when
viewed from another car's rear-view mirror-the Shelby's looks are
seriously intimidating, due both to its exclusive body-panel design
as well as those stripes. Inside, the upgraded SVT interior option
is immediately obvious by way of the two Recaro-branded
black-leather bucket seats in front, both wearing twin red stripes
and embossed cobra snake logos bringing the exterior
distinctiveness into the cockpit. (The same stripes appear on the
rear seats.) The classic round white 6-speed manual transmission
shift knob adds its own performance statement, as does the
snake-logo steering wheel with its three driver-selectable steering
modes: sport, normal, and comfort. The condition of the interior
surfaces-on leather, control switchgear, dashboard,
instrumentation, headliner, and carpeting-is excellent.
(Mustang-branded floor mats are in place.) There are no obvious
signs of wear or inconsiderate use anywhere. Taken altogether, the
car's interior is stylish, simple, and 100% true to the Shelby
ethic. Under the hood, the 5.4-liter V8, holding center-stage in a
perfectly clean engine bay, makes its own powerful visual
statement. Underneath the large supercharger with its oversized
air-supply lines, the Ford-blue engine paint and SVT-identified
valve covers make a serious business statement. It's hard not
