Vehicle Description
1977 GMC Sierra Pickup
Officially named the "Rounded-Line" trucks by GM, the 1973-1987
Chevy C/K trucks were known more casually as the "box-body" or
"square-body" pickup. Sporting a new body style that incorporated
rounded corners around the wheel well in addition to a rounded
windshield and door frames, the third-generation Chevy C/K trucks
had an entirely new look. Larger and wider, the pickups looked more
box-like, which is why they were coined the "box-body" trucks.
For consignment, a Sierra which the consigner states "they will
hear you coming!" And they will, due to a .30 over 350ci V8 all
with plenty of high-performance bolt ons and add ins. Beautiful
flawless silver paint, and some 15LT Hoosier 99H's on the back, and
a custom interior this short bed is not short on any power or
looks... just on the bed.
Exterior
With a mere consigner stated 1,500 miles since the rebuild by the
previous owner's friend, it's all spiffy and shiny exterior paint,
panels and consistent gaps. The grille has been simplified to just
horizontal ribbing, the original headlight signal light setup is
still flanking the newly designed grille. A big shiny bumper hangs
below. As we feast our eyes on the remainder of this truck our
visuals will certainly not go hungry due to a large rear facing
hood scoop, shaved door handles, black window trimmings, a big
curled upward metal sun visor atop the exterior of the cab, and a
straight bed surround. For the bed the rear has been tubbed for
accommodation of the wide tires. The actual bed is silver and
shines like an uncirculated 1963 dollar coin. There is a thin
waterproof rug material laid in as a bed liner, and the rear
tailgate is like new and also shaved. Familiar Corvette taillights
are inline on the rear roll pan and this area is sans bumper for a
real clean look. 15-inch Weld Draglite wheels are all around with
237/75R15's in front and ultra-wide 31x18.50x15 rear Hoosier
rubbers. For entry and gate actuation a fob needs to be in
hand.
Interior
In a color scheme not often seen but none the less attractive, we
see door panels with a large gray molded plastic door panel that
has a triangle white stitched and tufted purple vinyl panel for the
door actuator and window crank. Also, a purple vinyl topper for the
door pull adds even more bling for the panels. Inside is all custom
and all amazing with a long single bench seat with triangle
stitched tufted inserts and smooth silver bolsters. Some snazzy
purple piping borders these seats. For the dash, the original GMC
black panel has been relieved of its original gauges and now has
some custom white faced AutoMeter Pro comp brushed bezels gauges
peppered on to this new carbon fiber dash panel. As we scan our
eyes across the dash, a gray background provides the foundation for
another thin triangle stitched padded panel on the passenger dash
and a large glovebox below. In the center on the hump is a custom
fabricated box in purple with a B&M shifter installed. Gray
carpeting is on the floor, and above the headliner is another dual
paneled purple insert with more of the triangle pattern and smooth
padded silver vinyl surrounds.
Drivetrain
A consigner stated 383ci V8 (350ci bored over .30 and stroked)
stroker (no documentation provided) is topped with a single
4-barrel Edelbrock carburetor and a TH350 3-speed automatic with a
shift kit. This setup throws power rearward powering a Ford 9-inch
posi 4:11 rear. The entire engine bay has been totally reworked and
polished and purple wiring and hoses are now seen. You may be
seeing double as it sports a mirror under the actual hood!
Undercarriage
A solid steel frame and undercarriage floorpans, rockers and toe
kicks hold a new aluminum fuel cell in the way back. Some of the
floor pan area has been repainted silver others remains what
appears to be the original red factory spray. Shiny headers melt
together underneath into a single piped dual exhaust that has side
pipes on, but these are not hooked up. Independent coil springs
with power disc brakes are on front, and ladders with coil-overs
and power disc brakes are on the back. All looking just racy
underneath.
Drive-Ability
A quick fire up and the high performance engine comes to life! Loud
and proud she was off to the test track where we put this truck
through its paces and it performed beautifully. All mechanicals are
working and the interior proved to be comfortable and visually
appealing.
This rebuilt to a higher standard short bed Sierra GMC is a
stunner, and deserves a serious look if you are a Sierra fan and
looking for something that no one else has. Performance out the
wazoo, and looks to make you nearly cry (in a good way) it
definitely will take the gold medal for this silver well
constructed piece of truck bling.
