GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1989 Chevrolet Suburban
1500 Silverado Package for your consideration. The Silverado
package Suburban was the top of the line model offered in 1989.
This example is powered by a 5.7L V8 crate motor which was
installed in 2006. The odometer reads nearly 160k miles, but the
selling owner notes only roughly 40k of those miles are on the new
motor. Mated to the large and powerful engine is a 700R4 automatic
transmission which shifts strong and delivers power to all four
wheels through a two-speed transfer case.
This Suburban is finished in Arctic White and while the paint is
not perfect, the body is straight and true. With the top of the
line Silverado trim level came a roof rack and rain guards. Another
interesting feature of the 1989 Chevrolet Suburban is the power
operated rear hatch window. The original owner of the vehicle
installed a second, always-on, battery so that they key does not
have to be in the ignition to operate any of the windows or other
accessory features of the vehicle making it an awesome camping rig.
This example rides on 15-inch wheels with manually locking front
hubs wrapped in 31-inch General Grabber tires.
Sitting in this Suburban is nearly like entering a time capsule.
The grey cloth interior remains in great condition and has seating
for eight with the third-row bench seat. With the Silverado trim
every option offered in 1989 was installed on this example. Some
highlights include rear air conditioning, overhead console,
compass/thermometer mirror, captain seats with center console, tilt
steering wheel, cruise control, power windows, and power locks. The
1989 Chevrolet Suburban was fitted with OBD 1 diagnostics complete
with a check engine light. Air conditioning is provided by a R-134A
converted system which provides plenty of cold air even in the
hottest conditions.
According to the owner, this vehicle originally lived in Vale,
Oregon where it was with the original owners for 27+ years. There
was a second intermediate owner for a few months before the selling
owner acquired it in August, 2019. Accompanying the vehicle is a
folder of service records and notes from the previous owner showing
