Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280SL
"Pagoda" with a four-speed manual transmission. This Pagoda was
sold new by Riverside Motors in Little Rock, Arkansas. It has been
in Georgia for many years and with the current owner since 2010.
Finished in Signal Red over black MB Tex upholstery with a matching
red hardtop and black canvas soft top.
Options included power steering, Becker Europa AM/FM stereo, tinted
glass, chrome roof bars and A/C. This is a great driver-quality
example with lots of recent service - in 2019 Bud's Benz completed
a major mechanical refresh consisting of a front end / steering
rebuild, brakes, hoses, rear axle reseal / mounts, and more - at a
cost of over $10,000. In 2008 it got a top-end engine rebuild.
This 280SL starts easily, runs great, makes good power, shifts
properly and feels very "put together" going down the road.
Cosmetically it shows to a good but not restored / show-quality
standard - an older repaint in correct Signal Red has a nice shine
but a few nicks and dings from use. The underside looks good with
no signs of previous rust repair or current issues.
The interior shows to a nice standard with excellent upholstery,
dash, door cards and wood. The odometer is inop; it broke under
current ownership and mileage is estimated at around 120,000. This
Pagoda is offered with its books, tools, service records and
original window sticker.
