cubic inch V8 crate motor with Z heads paired with a Tremac 5 speed
manual transmission, this Coupe has all of the power you could want
and weighing in at a bit over 2,000lbs makes it the ultimate race
machine.
The Daytona has McCloud clutch/Lakewood bell housing, coil over
Koni adjustable shocks, heater with 3 speed fan, Leather trim and
black carpeting, front and rear sway bars, Wildwood disc brakes all
the way around, GPS speedo vintage gauges, Holley 4 barrel
carburetor, MSD ignition with rev limiter, fog lights, removable
side windows with storage bag, Simpson 5-point harness, Kirkey low
back seats with vinyl covering. The car rides on Goodyear tires
with 315/35ZR17 in the rear and 275/40ZR17 in the front. The car
has all new parts and has never been raced.
The Shelby Daytona Coupe (also referred to as the Shelby Daytona
Cobra Coupe) is an American sports-coupe related to the AC Cobra
roadster, loosely based on its chassis and drive-train. It was
built for auto racing, specifically to take on Ferrari and its 250
GTO in the GT class. Just six Shelby Daytona Coupes were built
between 1964 and 1965, as Shelby was reassigned to the Ford GT40
project to compete at the 24 hours of Le Mans, again to beat
Ferrari in the highest level prototype class. With the Shelby
Daytona, Shelby became the first American constructor to win a
title on the international scene at the FIA World Sportscar
Championship in 1965 and has recently been chosen for historic
preservation as a significant vehicle in the history of auto
racing.
