2016 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Convertible
If Stingray is a comfortable bruiser and Z51 is a sharpened
all-rounder, Z06 spec makes the Corvette legitimately track-ready.
It brings grippier tires, stiffer suspension, further cooling for
the engine and brakes, downforce-generating aero, and stronger
stoppers all around. Ah, right, and an engine that seriously turns
up the heat over the standard Stingray's.
A mere 8,258 miles and barely broken in, this Long Beach Red
Metallic powerhouse is up for consignment at Classic Auto Mall.
With the new car smell still present, it is all good on the looker
front. Hop inside, tune in and turn on, and the new car smell will
quickly be replaced by burning rubber odors.
Exterior
Long Beach Red Metallic covers all the fiberglass panels including
the carbon fiber hood. A smattering of black accents (vent
cowlings, spoiler, front air dam, rear integrated bumper, front
windshield surround, and hood air dam) peppers the red. A red
convertible power top with remote operation is installed, as are
high intensity xenon headlamps, and LED park and signal lights. Z06
black powder coated, snowflake pattern aluminum wheels are all
around. A true cut diamond styled look with multi-faceted surfaces
to move the air out of your way.
Interior
Spice Red leather 8 way power buckets that grab you upon climbing
in, give the passenger a feeling of stability, similar to sitting
in a roller coaster seat, anticipating the ride. The driver has the
luxury of holding on to the leather wrapped steering wheel for
additional security. Behind the wheel is a heads-up color display.
A center information center is at your fingertips and is enough to
keep you occupied for many an hour, containing navigation, radio,
communications and backup camera screens. Power windows, power
steering and driver mode selector are also at your fingertips.
Heated and cooled seats add extra comfort. A neat rear fiberglass
cowl/tonneau harkens back to the 60's versions of the sting ray
with its dual bump ups in black, and seamlessly molding into the
rear trunk lid and interior center post.
Drivetrain
LT4 6.2Liter Supercharged V8 DI/VVT. The healthy mill is fed via
EFI and has a 7-speed manual transmission on back. Way back for the
rear axle is a 3.42 limited slip differential. The engine bay and
engine are presenting as showroom new.
Undercarriage
The reflection of the showroom can still be seen (well, almost!) on
this pristine ground effect clad undercarriage. Z06 Performance
suspension, active suspension, slotted brake rotors, electronic
limited slip differential, along with speed sensing rack and pinion
steering, and a rear axle with a 3.42 ratio, are all looking
fabulous!
Drive-Ability
She fired right up burning brightly on all 8 cylinders and it was
off to the test track and the test drive. Here it performed very
nicely, taking turns like it was on rails, bias free braking, and
lest we forget, that unlimited acceleration that just gets better
and better. All functions were working just fine, and all is well
with this 2016 Z06 speed racer.
