Built off of the Panther platform, the Grand Marquis was used as
the counterpart of the multi-purposed Ford LTD Crown Victoria.
Similar to the Crown Vic, the Grand Marquis went on to be used in
many facets for livery, government and civilian use. The
distinguishing features and looks of this model were the padded
vinyl half-roof and the opera lamps similar to the Lincoln Town
Car. Offered in both two-door and four-door sedans, the standard
package for both was the LS trim but with the option to upgrade to
the Brougham, a long lived name of luxury. Later on in the first
generation of the Grand Marquis, the Colony Park became part of the
line as a trim giving the option of the wagon as well.
