classicpromenade.com. This is a beautiful US delivery 1971
Mercedes-Benz 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet that is thoroughly documented
with 61,000 miles and three owners from new. This Mercedes has been
well cared for in every respect, being one of the most coveted
models ever produced. It has been thoroughly restored and is in
gorgeous condition today. The condition, history, documentation and
provenance associated with this example makes this an
investment-grade collector car. This is a complete, numbers
matching motorcar and one of only 1,232 produced. The livery is
crisp and elegant in its original White (Paint Code 050),
contrasted with the Black Haartz cloth canvas convertible top (Code
9001) and complemented by beautiful chrome that is all in as-new
condition. Barrington Coach Haus set out on a bare metal repaint
about 15 years ago, disassembling the car as needed. As per the
factory order, this has the completely painted undercarriage which
was also painstakingly repainted during the restoration. This is
documented well with receipts as well as complete photos, as seen
in our photo gallery. The Black Leather (Code 241) has been
replaced and looks and smells as-new. Complimenting the leather is
the beautifully refinished and plentiful use of rare Zebra wood.
Importantly, this 3.5 Cabriolet was ordered new with many rare
options, including the Behr air conditioning, tinted glass, center
console, folding arm rests and power windows. And of course, it
features its original Becker Europa radio with its automatic
antenna. We love the two-tone horn, as well. The black convertible
top looks new and the gray headliner is also in excellent
condition. The original numbers matching engine was fully rebuilt
in 2003 by Manfreds Import Autos in Illinois. It now runs and drive
beautifully with approximately 2,000 miles added since the rebuild,
and less than 61,000 miles accumulated since new. The 280SEs are
incredibly tight and nimble, and with such low mileage this is
exceptional even for this model. This 280SE Cabriolet was delivered
new on September 4 th , 1970 and was purchased new by Rich Schulze
of Elmwood Park, Illinois on September 7 th , 1970. Mr. Schulze
enjoyed this Cabriolet for three decades underscoring his adoration
of this motorcar. Scott Davis acquired the Cabriolet from Mr.
Schulze and had it for the next six years. The last owner was Ralph
Furra from Newport Beach who acquired it in 2006. This 280SE 3.5 is
fully documented with five decades of receipts, service records,
the original data card, Protecto Plate, owners manuals and numerous
photos of the in-depth restoration work performed. It also comes
complete with its tool roll, first aid kit, warning triangle, spare
tire, jack and tools. The inspection confirms that the car has
never had rust and that all instruments and accessories function as
they should, including the original factory air conditioning. This
Cabriolet is available for inspection in NYC, New York. The winning
bidder has the ability to negotiate a trade toward the purchase of
the Mercedes. For more details and information, please call or text
